Mine include: Hit of the Week Orchestra, Ada Jones, Southern Jazz Group, Edison Concert Band, National Promenade Band, Indestructible Military Band, Pamela Blue, Glenda Collins, Bev Harrell, and various others.
Who are your favourite artists who never released a studio album?

I'd have to research it, basically. There could be some favorite artists who count, but I don't really have any favorite artists who have no albums--but they might technically be just compilation albums that a label put together.
For example, take the 5 Royales. I'm a fan of them, and I've got a number of 5 Royales albums, but were any of them initially intended as albums by the band? I don't know that, or at least don't remember it, without looking it up.
Another problem is ambiguity re just what counts as an album in the 30s, 40s, etc.
So my answer would be some combination of older artists who only have label-collated compilations (but I'd have to research just who fits into that category, as well as decide just what I'm going to count as an album pre the late 50s) and early rock & roll, doo-wop, R&B artists who only did a few singles (but whom I don't generally consider myself a big fan of, no matter how much I like those singles, because prolificness generally gets someone higher on my list, partially because I don't like hearing the same music too often). An example there is that I love the Chips' "Rubber Biscuit," and I like the other couple of tunes they recorded, too, but I don't really consider myself a big Chips fan, because as far as I know they only have those few tunes. I don't listen to them very often, because I don't like hearing the same recordings very often. I tend to just hear tunes like "Rubber Biscuit" occasionally on compilations of 50s/early 60s singles.
There are also some more modern artists that might be candidates. I'm primarily thinking of pretty obscure artists who had tunes on tribute albums, soundtracks, etc., but where I just don't know if they ever released an album or not, because despite how much I love a track or two of theirs on those compilations, I never got around to searching for other stuff by them. For example, I'm thinking of some of the tracks on the two The Song Retains the Name tribute-to-Zeppelin albums. Take the Ordinaires' version of "Kashmir"--I really dug that, but I never got around to looking whether they did anything else . . . I should finally get around to searching for some of that stuff.

Best I can tell, 'Vets' only ever released about 5 tunes... 2 of which, I go gaga for.

The Screamers and Catholic Discipline Good choices, especially the Screamers. Crime never released a proper album either.
