Also, Fury mentions that Asgardians aren't the only ones out there, so he does indicate that he already knows about other alien species.

Fury says Thor happened and we found out we weren't alone. Then Thor says "Asgard wants nothing but peace". Then Fury says "but you aren't the only ones out there..."
My best recollection.

It could easily be retconned that he was lying because it's not like he was going to tell them the story of Captain Marvel. But I don't believe Marvel's intent of that scene was for Nick Fury to be lying. It seems obvious that they just didn't know they were going to set Captain Marvel in the 90s. That's pretty much what I'm saying. I don't see any contradiction at all. Unless Captain Marvel the movie contradicts something, it all adds up. Earth is a little less hilariously outgunned because of the Avengers, but still outgunned. Fury might know about the Kree and Skrull and their weapons/talents, but none of that's on Earth. It makes no difference. Either that or all the possible time travel in Endgame actually puts the Captain Marvel movie in a new timeline. Maybe we get a glimpse of Scott Lang in the 90s and the original MCU timeline is what we've seen but the new timeline is similar but with the creation of Captain Marvel.
Oh man.. what if the current Avengers go back in time to create "Earth's Mightiest Hero" to defeat Thanos and that's why she's the most powerful person in the universe?!

You mean they go back in time and plant some seed(s) that culminate in the creation of Captain Marvel? Neat.
They won't have to digitally de-age Paul Rudd either because he barely ages.

What if the Kree have some type of Men in Black technology and wiped out Fury's memory?

Yeah.. has anybody looked into Paul Rudd being Asgardian?

Plausible deniability. The ref is to a grudge match which leveled a town meaning it was bigger than something Fury could contain. The world saw it. The Council became aware

In the first Avengers movie, Nick Fury mentions that they started developing the phase 2 weapons after Thor fought the Destroyer and he reasoned "We learned that not only are we not alone, but we are hopelessly, hilariously outgunned." Seems like this statement would no longer be accurate considering that a few decades earlier he had already gotten introduced to Captain Marvel, Skrulls, Kree, their esoteric powers and their advanced weaponry. So MCU is a convoluted mess. 1st, the "8 Years Later" fiasco. Now this plothole with Captain Marvel.

But hey, at least these plotholes in the MCU only popped up after multiple movies. DC usually crams a bunch of inconsistencies in a single movie.

The movies not out yet, so we can't really say, but yet I thought the same thing. It's also entirely possible that there some kind of time travel element were Fury's mind is a raised.
Also, fuck Cap.

I noticed that when I was watching The Avengers on Friday. I thought about posting it, but held off on it since we haven't seen Captain Marvel in its entirety.
