The funny thing about this is that I just heard a theory that they are hijacking the DCEU from Snyder and creating a Batman universe. The movies they have announced are 4 Batman related movies (The Batman, Nightwing, GCS and Batgirl) and Wonder Woman, Justice League and Aquaman. And the last 3 are already filming or finished filming. The Flash solo (?... at one point they added Cyborg) movie sounds like it died quietly. MOS2 is kinda, maybe, probably... Same with Black Adam and Shazam. They aren't doing that. None of those films have set release dates yet, and there has also been a Justice League Dark movie announced with Doug Liman as the director anyway. They aren't hijacking anything. If JLD is anything like the animated movie, Batman would be a big part of that also, right? And, it's just a theory by where things are leading to.

Without Batman they would take a serious hit, that's for sure, but they would survive. They still have the rest of the Justice League characters including Superman, and while not quite as popular as Batman, they are still big enough and iconic enough to keep DC afloat.

I like Batman.
But I have never understood the arguments that he is the only worthwhile part of the DC Universe.

I like Batman. But I have never understood the arguments that he is the only worthwhile part of the DC Universe. Well outside of the comic world, Batman is really the only successful franchise they have. In terms of movies, only the Batman movies are truly successful. Superman had some good movies back in the 70's but they couldn't maintain it to present day. As far as other heroes... well there are none with good movies. In TV, only Batman has had a successful TV show. There's JLA and the teen titans sure, but no other solo superhero show. At least not until the advent of Arrow and Flash, and yet as it stands now Arrow is already struggling.

After 4 1/2 seasons...longer than a lot of shows...though this season is their strongest since season 2. And Superman had "Lois and Clark" which had 4 seasons, and Smallville, though I would understand not counting that as a true Superman show. But so many people just hate Superman, Aquaman, anybody in DC comics that isn't Batman, and I have never understood that.

Yeah it'd survive but it would be an enormous blow. Batman probably makes up half the popularity that DC has.
Whereas Marvel are more level between having Spider-man, X-men, The Avengers which includes several highly popular characters like Iron Man and Hulk.
For DC it all really revolves around Batman and Superman. They'd be nothing without them.

Even after Batman and Robin, Batman still drudged on and came out good on the Nolan side. Whenever DC brings out anything else, it is pretty bad. Green Lantern, Jonah Hex, Superman Returns, etc. And Superman has it bad for 2 reasons: No one knows how to write Superman for movies these days and Christopher Reeve. It's either they are making a movie in the Donnerverse (everything up to Superman Returns) or they are trying to make a totally different version from every version we know (Man of Steel). Then you have everyone not wanting anyone except Reeve. And people don't hate Aquaman. He just became a joke.

Oh god, please no. The animated movie was crap. Their Fucked up Constantine for the third time. I hope Doug Liman chooses the Vertigo Constantine for the live-action movie.
