Lucasfilm brought back the original horse whisperer to close the stable door, after their idiot groom Rian Johnson left the door open and the horse bolted. Good luck with that.

This can't just be happening, right? They already wrapped filming... Even George can't help the direction things have gone.

Oh, no! Not George Lucas!
And, more importantly: how could he possibly know anything about Star Wars that Daisy Ridley doesn't already?!

Oh, so you haven't seen the prequels? And "we got this covered.com"? Seems legit.

In Lucas' concept of the sequel trilogy, Luke was to be found by the 2 new adolescent protagonists. But he was to serve as their mentor and take an active part in the battle against the new forces of evil. He was not to be some bitter hermit who attempted to murder his nephew because of a dream. He was not to be this character who refused to have anything to do with anything Force related, only to exhaust himself to death using astral projection. Lucas went over his vision for Luke with Hamill when Hamill signed on even before TFA was official. Equally, Hamill was onboard with Trevorrow's vision when he was the writer. However, Hamill never liked how Abrams wrote Luke out of TFA. And he never liked Rian Johnson's characterization of Luke. If Abrams and Johnson's writing would've reflected Lucas ideas, Hamill wouldn't have voiced displeasure. Equally, if Abrams/Johnson's characterization were the same as what Lucas presented to Hamill originally, Hamill probably would've never signed.
