As far as I can tell, there has only ever been one other MCU movie that lifted its embargo this late and that was for Infinity War. We know they did that to avoid spoilers, do you think they simply want to avoid spoilers with this one as well? Or is it because they're not confident about their product and are avoiding bad publicity? Somehow that doesn't sound like the MCU I know. Maybe they just want to build more hype? What do you think?

Probably for the sake of spoilers. It's a gamble allowing your movie to be reviewed before it comes out. It could go either way, and usually when a movie is expected to be terrible, the embargo will last for as long as it can so early negative reviews don't torpedo its chances at the box office. That's not extremely likely for Captain Marvel, so best guesses, there's a plot detail somewhere near the caliber of Darth Vader is Luke's father that the company doesn't want getting out there.
Having a review embargo this late seems like something I would do, but I would do it because I want people to enjoy the movie. To do that, I'd seek to eliminate any possible interference. But that's me, and I'm not a company, let alone a billion dollar one. But is it so far-fetched that even a company might want at least some mystery hovering around the movie until fans get to see for themselves? I'm just glad I saw Infinity War before people started deciding Thanos demands silence means nothing to them.

Honestly I have no idea. The social media embargo has been nothing but positive responses. Wish the review embargo was lifted this week.

The article gives a quite plausible reason.

The article gives a quite plausible reason. That's not a plausible reason. That's a lame attempt at spin control. The most plausible reason is that they're lifting the embargo late because they know the movie is a complete mess.

So Screenrant is in the pocket of Disney too, huh? There's no end to this conspiracy.

I'm almost wondering if Disney and Marvel are trying to hide spoilers. Remember how 'The Force Awakens' wasn't properly screened for critics due to spoiler issues?

They want to give the DCEU a break and not embarrass them too early. They'll give them a little hope and then rip it away muahahaha
