Some of these points are good, but you give Sansa WAY too much credit. What exactly did she offer at the Battle of the Bastards? She did not offer anything. Jon asked for her advice. She gave none. She went to see Petyr and did not tell Jon.
I think Arya maybe on to something big with that new weapon she wants for herself. Might take down the Night King or at least one of the walkers. Didn’t get a good look but I’m thinking it was some sort of sectional staff with blades. I don’t know what they’re called. Like nunchucks but bigger and bladed.

Looking at it, it reminded of a spear with a detachable blade at the end like a grappling hook type deal. I think it's meant to incorporate her stick training she had with the faceless men. Maybe the blade at the end of the stick is her dagger?

I can fully understand Sam, and I have no trust in Daenerys: Sansa has been complaining about Dany and insinuating that Jon shouldn't have given up his crown for her. The fact is that Jon did the correct thing. They would never win this war without those 2 huge armies that Dany commands. Fact is that you fanboys can't stay objective about anything.

(If so....I love it!) Correct. And Sansa fanboys are terrible people who laud even the normal things that she does. So Jon made her the lady of Winterfell and went to seek allies. Then who in the whole world is supposed to worry about the amount of food provisions they have remaining? of course Sansa because that's the job that Jon gave her. I have not heard of people being praised for doing exactly what they are supposed to do. In the minds of lunatic Sansa fans the food problem is only being managed because of Sansa. Do they believe that Jon should immediately enquire abut pantry provisions minutes after coming from a journey in which he had a close brush with death? Lol......And they think that Sansa will eventually become the queen of 7 kingdoms. It will be funny when that doesn't come to happen in a few weeks time.

Welp, after tonight's episode it's been back to back boring ass episodes to start the season. A third of the way through and I'm just wanting them to get on with it already. It looks like next episode could be that "longest battle scene ever recorded" episode I kept hearing about. I thought we were going to get a bit of that tonight but meh. Just a bunch more filler. Just more scenes with tons of characters that I no longer or never did care about. If this weren't the final season I'd be feeling okay with it. But this is the final season of this much hyped show with only 6 episodes of it. The first two of them just seemed almost wasted. Could they not have made these two episodes into just 1 episode?

Which characters do you no longer/ have you never cared for? Hmm well I'm awful with a lot of these characters names so I'm sure I'll forget some. No Longer Care For: Danys (It's been at least a couple seasons now) - I just really hate this narrative that every man who encounters her just instantly falls in love with her. It's now seeming like Tyrion is in that same category now. Jon - He is hit or miss per season it seems. Hated him til shit started happening at The Wall. Liked him when he came back to life. Stopped caring for him when he started hanging out with Dany. I'm maybe getting back into his now he knows his heritage. Tyrion - Used to be my favorite. But once he left Kings Landing he was no longer as fun of a character. He is another character that once they connected with Dany they became far less interesting to me. Jorah - I liked him for a long time even when he was around Danys. However for whatever reason idk I just no longer give a shit. Arya - This one is a bit harsh because I do like her. Yet she's like Jon, it's hit or miss so much at times. Atm? Haven't really cared about her since she's returned to Winterfell. Never Cared For: Sansa - Hated her since season one and have wanted her to die ever since. Brienne - She's just a 'meh' character for me. Don't hate her or like her. She's just there. I hope Tormund gets to hook up with her at least once I guess for his sake since I like him a lot. One Eyed Dude - Don't know his name but the guy who has been brought back to life like 18 times. Just like Brienne, just don't care. Sam - I've never cared for him but I will say he did a great job in last weeks episode. But I just don't have any interest in him or Gilly. Bran - Never cared for his storyline and even now I just hate him more. Any Greyjoy That's Not The Pirate - Never liked any of them. The pirate dude with Cersei though is a lot of fun. They are the ones that come to mind atm. Currently characters I like are Jaime, The Hound, Davos, Bronn, Varys, Tormund.

Wow, thanks for taking the time to write all that, but I just don't understand why you would watch a show where you only care about 1 main character (Jaime). And the hound's arc has put him constantly in the company of people who's story you don't care for or who you don't care for (brienne, sansa, Arya, beric) But that being said, I understand completely why you haven't looked the first two episodes.

There are other characters that I have loved over times of this show like Tyrion. I loved characters like Ned, Little Finger, The Viper, Margaery, Her Grandma/Aunt etc. It's just gotten down to the point where most of my favorite characters have now died. There are also characters that have compelled me but it's to the case where I love to hate them like Cersei, Jofferey, or Ramsey. I also originally hated Jaime as a character. He then became my favorite during his redemption arc. So yeah, I get where you're coming from in terms of questioning why I watch but there have been countless characters in this show that have kept me watching over the years. Like I said above, at times I like Arya and Jon and at times I don't.

Calling it now: Dany will kill Jon and make it look like the White Walkers did it so he's not threat to her getting the throne.

I for one thought it was a terrific episode. Big battles and action scenes don't mean anything without heart and emotional stakes behind them. These were some of the most long-awaited interactions and character moments yet, and they paid off. The table is set; now we head to the battle next week. It would just be superficial if it were six straight episodes of fighting. Maybe that's what the masses want, I don't know. But the idea of spending one last night together with characters that we've waited years to see all in one place is a great one for me. These are not just action figures fighting dragons and zombies. Episodes like this make the characters feel like living, breathing people; wholly necessary to portray when we're approaching a final end all battle between the living and the dead.

I feel like many of the posters commenting on here are brain dead. People get so used to the action of the final few episodes, that they forget every season has build up episodes and this was one of the better ones. In fact, I would argue it's one of the best episodes of the series. It was fantastically written and had some of the best character moments on the show. It felt like a farewell episode of sorts and I know we will be saying goodbye to a lot of these characters next week. The Brienne scene where she was knighted really stood out the most for me, but there were a bunch of good ones.
I also agree about spending time with these characters before they die. The premise of this episode was perfect as kind of a last night alive episode. It works for the final season because the characters get to say goodbye to each other in a natural way.

Episodes like this make the characters feel like living, breathing people; wholly necessary to portray when we're approaching a final end all battle between the living and the dead. Exactly. Give us one last night with all of our favorite characters, it's going to be devastating when half of them don't survive the battle. One character who is 100% guaranteed to survive this battle is Sandor. They've been setting up the Clegane Bowl for too long to walk away from that now. Theory: Don't know whether she survives but I don't think Dany goes Mad King on us. They've been subtly setting it up but I think she's going to do the honorable thing in the end, ceding her claim to Jon (and I don't know if he'll survive, either). They already have to contend with Cersei after this, it would be redundant to have to fight two Mad Queens back to back in the few episodes we have remaining. Dany needs a moment to prove her worth as a leader, not a conqueror. This show is so great that any episode that doesn't feature a major character death or a battle somehow falls into the 'nothing happened' category.

Both episodes were better then the rushed 7th season, but for this chamber play like setting they needed nearly two years? Yes, the great battle ahead (albeit they justified it with the complex winter landscape and that they had to wait for winter, not with the battle itself) I'm also looking not forward to the battle, because often they just become a tedious mess. They can be good (Helms Clam), but also a mess (Minas Tirith or Battle of the five armies).
Normally, the army of the death wouldn't stand a chance, if it wasn't for Jon Snow and Tyrion Lannister. If the battle field had been properly prepared, then their Achilles heel, that they are literally walking torches, would by their ultimate demise. We know how much the revived deaths are vulnerable to fire, and also, how devastating the dragons were at the fields of fire back in the day, when their fire was combined with a ground that had stuff to burn. They have no wheat fields, but they could use wildfire or something similar to lit not only the trench, but the entire battle field when the army of the death is marching over it.
Not much drama, but using the very weakness of an enemy led to great victories in the past: the phalanx, the long bow etc. pp.
This bad writing makes the entire battle next to useless for me. The battle in "Spoils of War" worked because the Lannister were taken by surprise and Jamie did what was possible. This battle, however, will be a waste of opportunities against any common sense, most frustrating and cringe-worthy. This is, what I expect from it.
Winterfell is meant to fall, and the actual battle takes place around King's Landing. Maybe Qyburn is allowed to use his brain.
Stannis' fleet was beaten by jamming it with a giant chain and letting wildfire do the rest.
And it was awesome to watch...and they didn't need two years for it and they had a far smaller budget for more episodes.
This episode was good, Sansa's part were the ones I liked the most: The scene with Jamie and Brienne, trusting her thus paving for way for Jamie. How she reacted on Theon, or how she cut Dany's SJW-bullshit: we are both women in a men's world who made it against all odds, what makes us to sister now. And she also considers herself as a good ruler. But while she rules with fear, terror and blackmailing: kneel or die screaming by being burned alive, the likes of Theon voluntarily ask to fight for Sansa, because they believe in her.
This contrast between her style of rule (which she was praising) and the style Sansa rules: from the moment how she was dealing the affairs with Lord Royce (professional, calm and with mutual respect) to Theon: the compassion for and the believe in her as ruler.
This contrast might be the mentioned setting for the Mad Queen, who will do the right thing in the very last moment...maybe.
I guess she feels threatened by both, and is also envious of both: Jon and Sansa.
And btw: Sansa was calling her "your grace" from day one.

Another thing I forgot to mention: Ghost is back! He wasn't just sitting there for the hell of it, they were reminding the audience he existed so clearly he's going to be important to the battle. Better late than never, I guess.
