Washington (23-6/14-2, NET: 32) Last week: 1 Results: Lost at Cal 76-73, won at Stanford 62-61 Next up: vs. Oregon State (Wednesday) Comment: What if UW loses once this weekend? And drops its quarterfinal game in Las Vegas? And the committee focuses on the lack of Quadrant 1 wins? And a slew of upsets elsewhere eat up at-large bids? Thatβs the nightmare scenario, aka: 2012. 2. Arizona State (20-9/11-6, NET: 68) Last week: 2 Results: Lost at Oregon 79-51, won at Oregon State 74-71 Next up: at Arizona (Saturday) Comment: Erratic Sun Devils will either pass the committeeβs so-called eye test with flying colors or fail miserably, depending on which eye was used. 3. Oregon State (17-11/9-7, NET: 88) Last week: 3 Results: Lost to Arizona 74-72 and Arizona State 74-71 Next up: at Washington (Wednesday) Comment: Beavers have lost three of their last four, by a total of six points. Then again, they havenβt exactly blown out opponents, save for the team down the road. 4. UCLA (16-13/9-7, NET: 109) Last week: 5 Results: Beat USC 93-88 (OT) Next up: at Colorado (Thursday) Comment: Bruins should have fresh legs for the fresh mountain air thanks to a full week off. But theyβll need contributions from the reserves at some point this weekend β¦ and maybe multiple points.

Shit last year, ultra shit this year. Washington will get in. Big win, well, I guess you could say Texas A&M. Whee. Lost to Cal, billed as one of the worst Major conference team in the last 30 years. Arizona State will get in. Beat Mississippi State. Lost to Princeton at home. Biggest win, nada. Lost to Belmont and Liberty at home, with the kazillion banner looking down. Arizona, Oregon, garbage. Please God, do not tell me Oregon State, lost to Kent State at home, is a bubble team. Highest PAC-12 team in NET, Washington at 33. Next, Oregon at 64. Below Toledo. Below three Southern Conference teams, below two Atlantic Sun teams, below two Ohio Valley teams.

How many Pac-12 players can you name? How many will make the All-American teams? There was a decent influx of freshmen this year. Bad luck took some, Shareef O'Neal, Bol Bol. None really set the world on fire. The "Shoe-Gate" investigation is hamstringing the premier program, Arizona. The past is hamstringing another, UCLA.
The conference didn't have a great season in football either.

I think they got some talent. When I watch their games the refs seem to be more interested in keeping the smallest and least talented players involved more than the rules as written. Kinda like in baseball on 3-0 counts the MLB umps call the next pitch if itβs near the plate a strike to let the pitcher back in the countβif they gave that zone to the pitcher all the time I bet youβd see the quality of pitching zoom down....

Washington will definitely get in, Iβm unsure about any other team, I think the only way the PAC 12 might get 2 teams in is if someone other than the Huskies win the PAC 12 tourney. Arizona St might get in without winning the tourney, definitely the only way to get 3 in is if someone other than Arizona St or Washington wins the tourney.

I think the Pac is beginning to think of itself as a football conference. Usually the two can't coexist. Take the SEC. Is it coincidence that the premier basketball program in the SEC is one of the least successful in football? How much success has Alabama had in basketball? Penn State? Flip the coin, Duke. Indiana. Can't blame the conference, football is where the money is.

what happened to Oregon?
some underclassman bolt, seniors graduate or a bad recruiting class over the last couple of years?

what happened to Oregon? some underclassman bolt, seniors graduate or a bad recruiting class over the last couple of years? They had a big recruiting class this year but Bol Bol got hurt and Louis King sucked. Bol was a monster, averaging 21 ppg. Even with Bol, they lost to a mediocre Texas Southern team in Eugene.
There's a lot of five stars coming in for next year. USC and Oregon with big classes. Arizona with a monster too but will they stay?

PAC-12 hoops has been pretty weak for a power conference for a long time. 1 title by 'Zona going back to '95 if I'm not mistaken.

Funny, the one player I don't remember is James Harden. He never stuck out to me at ASU. Certainly now, but not then. I certainly would put Stoudamire ahead of him on the 2nd team. DS was damned good. Maybe not Payton or Kidd but I remember Stoudamire, I don't recall Harden.

One of the post-Wooden great players at UCLA who never got the love because they didn't win it all. Kiki Vanderwenge was another. Rod Foster, Brad Holland.
Adam Keefe, one of those "white trees" that have success in CBB but never do diddly in the NBA. Joe Kleine, Tyler Hansbrough, Cherokee Parks, Jon Konchak etc.

Yeah. He was supposed to be the next Michael Jordan, right? When is Mr. Dunk City going to get USC dunking? I guess an upset vs. G'town sets you for life! Hard to believe U-dub is the BEST the pac 12 has to offer....an 8 seed? That's almost lower than mid-major stuff....odd.
