A modern day classic 'Who Done It'. 7.5 out of 10 Beers. Just finished giving it a re-watch today and it still holds up after all of these years. Never understood why this lil baby didn't get more love. Any fans?

I'll go 6/10 ciders.
It is ok, but not a DVD I'll reach for for a rewatch anytime.

It's a pretty solid movie. It's got a good look and a good cast and the atmosphere is palpable.
The ending had already been a pretty heavy cliche at that point, but to be honest I'm not sure I saw it coming the first time I saw it, so I'd have to admit it was at least somewhat effective.
Certainly not a classic by any means, but worth a watch for sure.

I remember seeing this in theaters when it was first released, I was also one of the lucky few to not see the spoiler in the movie during the opening credits. If I remember reading right, there's a spoiler in those opening shots that show the twist-connection between all of the motel guests. Spoilers don't bother me, but I was happy to watch this spoiler free.
When I first saw the movie, the cast was the first thing that popped out at me, even before knowing who was fully cast in the film. Pre-internet days and all. John Cusack is what got me to watch the movie initially. Up until that point he hadn't done anything in the thriller field. Which he'd later do from time to time with movies like "1408" and "The Frozen Ground" etc. I enjoyed his performance and still do in anything he does whether from the '80s to '10s. I knew actor Ray Liotta was in the movie and he's always been a favorite bad guy-stereo-type of an actor for me. "Something Wild", "Goodfellas", "Unlawful Entry", I can watch those over and over for him alone. He didn't lose none of that effect in this movie. Even when you're under the impression that he's a Special Agent here, you don't trust him. Actress Amanda Peet was coming out strong early in her career and overall has had a nice full career. When I previously watched "The Whole Nine Yards", I knew I'd like her for life and not just because of her topless shot in that movie lol. I haven't watched her in the new TV series "Brockmire" yet, but I would. Those are the only actors I knew who were in this going into the movie. Come to find out, I knew basically everybody from other favorite movies or just movies I binged watched prior. John Hawkes (From Dusk Till Dawn), Alfred Molina (Species), John C. McGinley (Se7en), Jake Busey (The Frighteners), Clea Duvall (The Faculty), Rebecca De Mornay (The Hand That Rocks The Cradle) and Pruitt Taylor Vince (Trapped). The cast of this movie alone makes this movie watchable and enjoyable beginning to end.
Shout out to the director James Mangold, too, who previously directed "Girl, Interrupted" and would next direct "Walk The Line". And my most recent fave of his, "Logan".
When I first saw this movie I didn't expect the twist, at all. Maybe I'm just an easy crowd, ha. The movie was a 8/10 for me. Since then it's maybe dropped to 7/10 because I've seen it so many times. When I catch it on cable after long periods of time of not viewing it, I will remember why I rated it as high as an 8/10. It's cast is catchy, it's pace can be gripping, and it's environment is atmospheric. I appreciated things in the movie as small as that haunting poem: "As I was going up the stairs I met a man who wasn't there He wasn't there again today I wish, I wish he'd go away." That poem at the end of the film summed up the whole thing for me.
I know one thing, the PG-13 thrillers and horrors that come out today, I'll never get into as much as I binged "Identity".

I liked it too. 7/10. The twist is daft but undeniably memorable.

Great setup but the third act kind of ruins it.

Saw it as part of a group at the theatre and it went down really well, much discussion in the bar afterwards. I'll have to watch it again to see how it holds up. It has Pruitt Taylor Vince in it, he of the wobbly eyes!

Thanks for the heads up, it looks like my sort of thing as well as I do like a creepy house shocker! Judging by the images it looks like Vince is playing a suspicious dude as well, which he does well of course.

I enjoyed it, but the twist at the end was laughable.

I liked it well enough that I've watched it several times, and intend on watching it again.
