If Captain Marvel's opening weekend is anywhere around the projected $150m, then it is obvious that the score was manipulated by trolls and/or bots. Because no way a movie with a 27% rating "anticipation" rating would make over $130m on opening weekend.

not trolls, RT WTS Score has never translated to boxoffice If trolls didn't bomb it then it's always been a shitty metric then. If the percentage was an accurate sampling of the general public then it would translate to box office.

WTS at one point had 100K votes , now most movies only a few thousand. Its just a marketing tool for studios , they try to censor negative comments now. Kill it with a fire.

I personally believe the WTS button was bombed and so willl the Audience Score. It doesn't bother me much because they and the critics score is pretty useless to begin with. Now even more so. Each time an Audience Score gets bombed it makes it even more useless. Taking more power away from the bombers. So I say go ahead and do it. That way when the same people who bomb the score point to it as "evidence" it holds less and less value.

But you may have to wait a couple months to get truer score.

Like a baseball players height weight launch angle and batspeed. It's cool to know but it doesn't make him a good ball player. I love some horribly rated movies and hate some high rated movies. So it doesn't really matter. Now the college buddy I go see major movies with he uses IMDB as a barometer to watch movies/tv shows. If I tell him to watch a movie he goes straight to IMDB and looks at the rating. If it's a horror movie if it's less than a 5 he won't watch it. Everything else has to be over 6.5. Different strokes. Mainly I use the trailer really. If the trailer piques my interest, (especially if I don't know anything about the source material), I'll watch it.

By definition RT can show a movie is critically acclaimed or not. It's just easier short hand than going and getting 200 different critics view on it and crunching the numbers myself. Now critically acclaimed doesn't really mean much, but if someone is going to say X movie was critically panned, but most critics actually said otherwise I'll use RT/metacritic. Still doesn't make it a good movie or not.
