Which 3 Superbowl teams had the worse overall performance in the last 5 years?
Note the word, overall. So try not to get hung up on 1 play, or even 1 line, but instead talk about both defense and offensive since it is a team sport.

The Rams and Panthers were offensively neutered. Patriots in LII offered no defensive resistance at all. If your QB throws for Super Bowl record yards, you should not be losing.

The Falcons loss in Super Bowl 51 was the worst choke job in sports history.
The Pats in Super Bowl 52 were outcoached and played horrendously on defense, Brady threw for over 500 yards and they still lost to a team with a backup at QB.
The Panthers in Super Bowl 50 just played a lousy game.

The Panthers in Super Bowl 50 just played a lousy game. I voted Rams but when you think about it, the Rams were as bad on offense as the Pats were on defense the previous Super Bowl, so I can't really argue with your pick. In both cases the team played horribly on one side of the ball and the coaching staff apparently had no answers whatsoever.

The Panthers in Super Bowl 50 just played a lousy game. I couldn't select the Pats SB 52 because the O line did their job. It was the defense that failed. Had the Pats won SB 53 by 3 instead 10, I would have included them because while they won, neither line really helped out the other half of the team. By scoring first and getting the 10 points in the 4th, I can say both lines did their job, obviously defense carried the heavier load. Following a similar logic, I included the Rams because their defense played 3 great quarters, but they failed in the 4th. Falcons played a great 2/3rds a game and then both halfs became utterly incompetent. Had one line continued to do their job, little Bow Wow would not have cried. The Panthers looked like they were going to be a great team, but SB 50 was just terrible in every way. Neither line did their job, and then the hot looking quarterback just stood there during the fumble.

Falcons for the epic choke.
Rams and Patriots in SB 53 for the offense-less snoozefest.

From what I remember, the Panthers were one of the most hyped teams that year while the talking heads kept talking about how it was all over for Denver with Peyton's neck problems and they can't win with him. Despite Denver running the table they were treated like a sleeper team in the playoffs and I honestly didn't think they would go all the way. As it turned out they made the Panthers look like total bitches.
Atlanta had the biggest meltdown in NFL history. In the other big three sports, you choke a game or two but you can still win the series. Falcons only had to win one game and they were way out in front at halftime. They gassed out, fell apart, shit the bed, you name it.
Rams offense looked like a very green inexperienced squad. Their defense was their only saving grace but they tired eventually late in the 4th.

I didn't want to give it to any winner, for obvious reasons...but i think it's pretty clear this past superbowl had some of the worst team execution we've seen in a while.

Too bad you didn't go back six years. The Peyton Manning led Broncos SB against the Seahawks is one of the worst performances in Superbowl history.
... made all the worse when the Patriots kicked the Seahawks ass the following year.

I liked doing it in increments of 10. Manning really did terrible against the Seahawks. Oh how I enjoyed SB 49. Had we beaten Denver the year after, we would have taken the Panthers. Oh well. Pats recent history is so good I can't really complain. Every team has its wins and losses.
