Proposed by the Denver Broncos. After a 4th Quarter score. the kicking team had the option of taking the ball on their 35 in a 4 and 15 situation. Get the 15, the game goes on. Sounds kind of Mickey Mouse to me, but there's has to be an alternative to the onside kick. Too many opportunities for exciting finished are dulled by the near impossibility of having a successful OSK. Team A is down by 21. They score with less than a minute, down now by 14. Team B has a turnover, Team A scores another TD. Now down by 7 with 35 seconds to go. Well, game over, because the onside kick will be recovered by the opponent. Make the Onside kick too easy and there will be 10 a game.

The onside kick sucks. We should probably just remove it altogether.

This video talks about kickoffs as a whole, but the solution sounds similar to the Denver Bronco's proposal

Fantastic idea, implement it as soon as possible. The onside kick is pretty useless by now.
Of course, I think they should make it 4th and 20 instead of 4th and 15.
4 and 20 kinda belong together, don't ya think? 😉

I think 4th and 15 is like 100 times easier to convert than a successful onside kick. It should be minimum 4th and 20. That being said you’re getting into stupid NHL overtime shootout territory here.
