There's nothing to defend. I am telling you I have said it, probably on more than one occasion. If you want to put your money where your mouth is then at some point over the next few days, I am prepared to waste a few hours of my time locating it. If you are right then I will self delete my account, if I am right you can self delete your account. Agreed? If not, STFU. The sexism in your posting history about this movie and its star is enough to justify my suspicion that you do indeed have a double standard. If you don't have a double standard in this case, well, even a broken clock is right twice a day. This bargain you want to make is just childish nonsense. It is a justification for me wasting my time.
PS. Why is disliking Brie Larson and everything she stands for, sexist?

Regarding personality I'd go with Widow and Cap. She has the military bearing as well as a quirky little fun side. She has some of Widow's sarcasm I think, but I feel it's a happier "flavor" of sarcasm than Widow's. I agree, and she 'cheats' a little, you know Natasha would have 'forgotten' the rules of engagement to win a race against a superior Camero in an underpowered mutated Ford Falcon, (which is what a mid-Sixties Mustang was) and would have no qualms about acquiring a new wardrobe and cycle if necessary.

One has nothing to do with the other. It is entirely possible to be both sexist and think overpowered characters can be a concern for any story. Justifying a suspicion on that basis only reflects on your judgement skills, not anything about his position or what he has posted in the past.
What I still can't seem to figure out is what she did that would cause anyone to think she's significantly more powerful than Iron Man, let alone Thor, Scarlet Witch or Dr Strange.

"4. The humor is off - I actually liked the humor in this. It's not as jokey as GOTG and Ragnarok but also a bit funnier than BP or TWS. I'd say the humor is more in common with phase 1 films like Thor and CATFA. So it's funny without being jokey. " Are there random moments of humor that make no sense? 8. This is a mediocre movie - I'd say this was a mediocre MCU movie... but that's different from saying it's a mediocre movie. A mediocre MCU movie means that it's a good, solid film. Maybe not great but definitely better than a lot of DCEU or FOX superhero movies. I'd put it slightly below Dr. Strange but above Antman. So in other words its a mediocre movie? Winter Soldier for ex isn't just a good mcu movie its a good movie period "10. Brie has a flat ass - I mean, it's not like her ass suddenly became huge and tight in this movie, but it's definitely nowhere near as flat in costume as we saw in that leaked pic. Definitely a non-issue in this movie. " I hears she has a body double lol, 4. Nope, non of the humor is out of place. All of them are reasonable. 8. A mediocre movie to me would be something like Valerian or X-men apocalypse. Even the worst MCU movies like TDW and IM2 are better than these. CM is better than TDW or IM2.

With all the criticisms being thrown at this movie, I watched it with the expectation that I'd find myself shaking my head throughout the movie. That... wasn't the case. Though there are some criticisms that were valid, I found that majority of the fears I had due to the criticisms I read were pretty unwarranted. Here's a list of the criticisms about the movie and what I thought after watching the movie. 1. Captain Marvel is without personality - this one is completely wrong. Carol Danvers in the movie has a lot of personality. I'd even describe her as quirky. Some people have described her character as having similarities with RDJ, I find her more like a toned-down, more serious version of Quill. I do wish she had a bit more intensity though, just a bit more gravity to her character so that she might get scary at times. Still, what we do get with Carol is a character with lots of personality. 2. Captain Marvel is a Mary Sue - also not true. She spends a lot of time getting her ass kicked in this movie and being a bit clueless here and there. The times when she showcases her powers it is properly explained and doesn't just come out of nowhere. 3. Brie Larson is miscast - I was actually one of the people who thought she was completely wrong for the role. Well, I was wrong. She did a good job in this and I enjoyed her portrayal. I still think they could have found someone better (I still would have preferred someone like Blake Lively or Emily Blunt), but as of right now I find her character way more interesting than Scarjo's Black Widow or Saldana's Gamora. So that should tell you she at least did something right. 4. The humor is off - I actually liked the humor in this. It's not as jokey as GOTG and Ragnarok but also a bit funnier than BP or TWS. I'd say the humor is more in common with phase 1 films like Thor and CATFA. So it's funny without being jokey. 5. Action is bland - after watching that train fight sequence I was very fearful that this movie would have awful fight scenes. Again, I was mistaken. While there is not action sequence here that stands out like the highway fight in TWS or the waterfall fight in BP, the fight scenes are still crisp and done properly. I'd put it above GOTG or CATFA. 6. Costume looks frumpy and cheap - I remember seeing those leaked costume pics and thinking it looked like a cheap cosplay. Well, her costume here looked pretty good. Both the greeen/black and the red/blue. There's room for improvement to be sure but it's good enough to be believable alien garb. 7. They're going to cram feminism down my throat - I will admit that there are indeed some feminist-inspired language and scenes in this movie, and some of them are quite heavy-handed. That said, there weren't that many and it didn't distract me from the movie the way I thought it would. 9. Movie is disjointed - yes there's a lot of flashback sequences but the movie is still pretty linear. Not convoluted at all. The main criticism I have for this is that the climax doesn't really climb all that high but that's about it. 10. Brie has a flat ass - I mean, it's not like her ass suddenly became huge and tight in this movie, but it's definitely nowhere near as flat in costume as we saw in that leaked pic. Definitely a non-issue in this movie. lol, you paid your actual, personal hard-earned money to watch it? Good grief. Hope it was fun!!!1

Definitely a non-issue in this movie. Somone whose opinion I trust, said that she is ridiculously overpowered towards the end of the movie. If that is true, doesn't that concern you going forward? Her photon blasts are pretty powerful but aren't really that much more powerful than Vision's blasts or Thor's lightning. The reason she looks so powerful in the end is because they didn't hesitate to show her spamming her blasts left and right whereas the movies normally limit how much Vision and Thor use their energy projection. If they allowed Vision or Thor to spam their powers as much as she did they'd have had no issues replicating her feats at the end. Physically, she's nowhere near as strong, durable or skilled as Thor. She does seem like the fastest and most mobile flier of them all though and she's very accurate with her photon blasts. It's not her powers that worry me going forward, it's that they might allow her to use them without limit whereas they usually limit guys like Thor, Vision, Wanda or Dr. Strange so they don't look too OP.

With all the criticisms being thrown at this movie... ANSWERS IN CAPS JUST TO DIFFERENTIATE, NOT BECAUSE I'M YELLING
1. Captain Marvel is without personality - DISAGREE
2. Captain Marvel is a Mary Sue - DISAGREE
3. Brie Larson is miscast - DISAGREE
4. The humor is off - DISAGREE
5. Action is bland - AGREE, I WAS UNDERWHELMED IN THIS REGARD
6. Costume looks frumpy and cheap - AGREE AND DISAGREE. ACTUALLY IT'S JUST THAT IT WAS JUST POORLY FIT. BRIE IS A VERY SLIM GIRL AND THEY DIDNT MAKE THAT COSTUME FIT HER DIMENSIONS RIGHT. THAT'S WHY YOU GET THAT "BAGGY" LOOK IN SOME SHOTS.
7. They're going to cram feminism down my throat - AGREE AND DISAGREE. IT WASNT CRAMMED, BUT IT WAS IN THERE AND IN FAR MORE SUBTLE WAYS THAN YOU MIGHT SEE ON THE FACE OF IT. We can talk about that some other time...
8. This is a mediocre movie - AGREE. THIS MOVIE IS GOING TO GET A BIGGER PASS THAN OTHER CBM's BECAUSE IT'S MCU. IF THIS WAS DCEU PEOPLE WOULD ALREADY BE SHITTING ALL OVER IT. 9. Movie is disjointed - AGREED. WERE THE SKRULLS THE BAD GUYS OR THE GOOD GUYS? WERE THE KREE THE BAD GUYS OR THE GOOD GUYS? WAS THE SUPREME INTELLIGENCE GOOD OR BAD? WAS THE SUPREME INTELLIGENCE HERSELF OR DR. LAWSON OR CAPTAIN MAR-VELL OR NONE OF THE ABOVE OR WTF? DID THE FLASHBACKS SHOW THAT SHE WAS HUMAN OR KREE OR A HYBRID OR WHAT? Don't get me wrong: I understood what was going on, but I often kept wondering why are they choosing to tell this story this way? What does the fragmentation of the back story tell us?
10. Brie has a flat ass - BRIE DOES HAVE A FLAT ASS, BUT THAT'S NEITHER HERE NOR THERE SINCE IT'S NOT AN IMPORTANT STORY ELEMENT THAT IMPACTS THE MOVIE IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. AND WE'D ALL OF US STILL HIT IT ANYWAY SO WHAT FUCKING DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE?

I watched Double Toasted’s review on it and they say the thing with Captain Marvel is that she is boring due to being underdeveloped.

I watched Double Toasted’s review on it and they say the thing with Captain Marvel is that she is boring due to being underdeveloped. That one I disagree with. She's nowhere near as developed as other MCU characters that had multiple movies to grow, but for an origin movie she didn't do that bad.

Carol doesnt have personality. She is wooden for 90% of the movie and sounds like shes obviously reciting lines especially during the second encounter with the supreme intelligence

You can argue that she wasn't a deep character, you can argue that she was underdeveloped, you can argue that she wasn't that likeable, you can argue that she was underwhelming, but claiming that she had no personality is just outright bs. She had more personality than characters like Black Widow, Wasp or Gamora.

Guess I'm tardy to the party-again. But yeah, I liked it too. At first I thought the pacing and storytelling was a little too different from the MCU plot structure but I liked it better as it went along as she began recovering her identity. I also enjoyed the buddy movie angle between her and Nick Fury. Something which I thought was the strength of the movie was also one of my criticisms. I'll explain. The reveal that the Skrulls are the good guys despite being the ugly looking shapeshifters is not only a good plot twist but an EXCELLENT visual depiction of the moral ambiguity that comes with war and the hardnosed if not genocidal counteractions of the Kree. But then there's not really a strong villain after Talos (Mendelsohn) is unveiled as a good guy. Ronan shows up for like just two minutes and the climax felt way too short. It didn't wreck the movie for me but it did bring me back to the days where the MCU did have a legit villain problem and messy third acts. Still, it was easily a 7/10 for me.

The sexism in your posting history about this movie and its star is enough to justify my suspicion that you do indeed have a double standard. If you don't have a double standard in this case, well, even a broken clock is right twice a day. This bargain you want to make is just childish nonsense. Almost all of us in this board agree that Superman in JL is overpowered. Not everything needs to be about sexism. Indeed. Sometime, like in that case, it's poor writing. Now imo now that's come up, I think they might had gotten away with it if they had a throaway line about the Mother Box enhancing his abilities. Or was that mentioned? Clearly the film stuck in my mind to this day.

Cant think of any other moment where she shows some personality that isn't dependent on the fish out of water trope. Can you,

Can you, Her little smirk in same conversation when she offers as 'evidence' her photon blast with the assertion that 'Skrulls can't do that.' Her letting Fury do his tape thing instead of just photon-blasting the door to the holding cell and her reaction to Fury when he realizes that. 'I think she went that way.' Her photon blasting her trainer directly after being told it would mean a trip to the principals office if she did it again. 'We'll find out.' That she definitely doesn't remember cheating in the drag race while giving the impression she knows damn well she'd take a shortcut if necessary. Her demanding Fury's 'state of the art pager' after he lied about what he's doing with it and her conversation with him later about neither telling their bosses.
Etc.
