winteriscoming.net/2019/03/10/runtimes-first-two-episodes-game-thrones-season-8-revealed/54 minutes and 58 respectively. I have no doubt the battle of winterfell will be longer. But in terms of the sheer amount of information we should be going through... all the reunions(seriously there’s a lot), Jon and Dany and arrival, Jon learning his heritage, and battle prep. Theon’s adventures. What Melisandre is doing. What Cersei is doing and the golden company. Actually showing the WW wreaking havoc since they have hyped it so much after all this time. Obviously that means some things I stated are gonna either not happen, be off screen or be rushed to hell. Because the WF battle is episode 3. And there’s a lot to set up before that imo. I guess David nutter was lying when he said the episodes “danced around the bigger numbers” on Reddit. Well apparently not his do since they are short as hell... Super bummed edit: sorry if this was written in poor taste I had a bad day

That's what I expected. Normal running time. Little fools have fantasised their own wishes of extra-long episodes in spite of the authors saying the number of episodes was a result of having less story to tell. Most of what is said about GoT is complete trash because it reflects the stupidity of a mass audience.

I always doubted the rumoured extended runtime of the episodes. I could never find a reliable source for the story, so I assume it was an online hope that somehow converted to fact.
Yes, it will be rushed, just like season seven was. At this stage, its almost a given.

There are a bunch of 90 minute episodes later on.

Are you talking about that French TV Network press release from January?? Because I highly doubt they would have that kind of information yet. More likely they were given rough estimates and just went with it.

I will be honest here....I will leave work and get back home the moment I hear of leak (provided I am sure that the leak truly happened)..and I wouldn't mind visiting an illegal site to get them. I just can't wait anymore.

I downloaded the four first episodes of S5 on the Sunday they leaked, which was the day of the premiere (probably the day before in US time), then I proceeded to watch the first one before it aired. I didn't finish it, though, left the bit at the Wall for the next day. Then I spent the remaining three weeks trying to dodge the spoilers idiots were spewing on the IMDb forum, watching each episode as it aired for the sake of being in sync with the discussion. Then the same idiots were whining about having gulped it all at once and having to wait sooooo long to get the next one. Served them right. Fools were given the ability to suffer as a punishment

Last season "Beyond the Wall" leaked a few days early and I was going from site-to-site watching five minutes of it at a time on a crappy little screen with dismal sound as HBO was following it around the ether shutting it down every five minutes or so for a while. We won.
I felt no guilt at all, I have an HBO subscription and if they screw the pooch and it gets posted on Portuguese TV briefly a few days early then I'm going to hunt it down and watch it before they can kill it.

I was in Australia when the last season was played. I had bought Foxtel Now subscription just for the sake of watching GOT. They had promised to broadcast at the same time as America which meant they had to broadcast at 11 am on every Monday. But their website kept failing because of oversubscription and they wouldn't deliver the product until 8 or 9 hours after the promised time. I waited for 4 hours on the first day and then went for some illegal site. Not my problem. I paid for them and they didn't deliver. And this is one of the greatest shows I have ever seen. I can't wait. As simple as that.

If one sees 4 episodes in advance, that person will either be spoiling it for others or not enjoying the discussions because of asymmetry in knowing the plot relative to others. Glad I never had to face that.

I always doubted the rumoured extended runtime of the episodes. I could never find a reliable source for the story, so I assume it was an online hope that somehow converted to fact. Yes, it will be rushed, just like season seven was. At this stage, its almost a given. It started back 2 years when the then ceo said GOT S8 could end up feature length. He basically said they weren’t going to cut corners and that it would be an ending everyone deserved. Rampant speculation started and snowballed. But to be fair HBO never did anything to calm the fire. For instance similar claims have been made about westworld and they have had 90 min episodes and go over the 60 min mark frequently. Dinklage kept emphasizing “its a long one”, the HBO boss said “feature length” without ever specifics. David nutter on Reddit recently fanned the flames by saying “he thinks the episodes will dance around the bigger numbers”. And Sophie turner In the EW article thought that episode 3 was supposed to be 90 min. turns out it’s only 60. I’m not one of those loons who ever got carried away with the idea of every episode being 90 minutes. But this sounds seriously underwhelming. I’m preparing myself to think S8 will be a big beautiful disaster at this point

Dinklage kept emphasizing “its a long one”, … And Sophie turner In the EW article thought that episode 3 was supposed to be 90 min. Actors don't know. They have their script and they do their scenes. For S8, they might not even have had the whole thing. They're not involved in the editing process, don't get to see the episodes before they air. Actors don't know any of this. You might as well ask the extras how long they froze their arse in the cold and divide this by the number of students in the dragon shit shovelling crew.

The original data was wrong and episode 3 will be 82 minutes; the longest episode ever. I just saw this and came to to tell lol! Also I’m not trying to be too greedy. But the last two episodes being excatly 80 mins each sounds fishy to me. I’m kinda expecting them to be changed as well. Either a tiny bit longer or perhaps shorter. It just seems too exact. What do you think ?
