Anyone paying attention to this?
I feel like they missed an opportunity to make a properly fun action comedy by doing a modern "R rating" thing where the comedy is mostly people saying balls and butt crack.
I also think the casting is a shame, apparently attractive women just aren't allowed to be funny, so they're just there to react to the not necessarily funny male co-stars.

That movie has one purpose: Beautiful, almost naked people. I'm betting you could turn the sound completely off and not miss a thing. The show wasn't any better. That said, I'm totally down for it, because Zac and The Rock.

I got no connection to the tv show. I'll probably just rent it or something.

Funniest character was Jon Bass as the standout fat guy, and his chemistry with model Kelly Rohrbach was endearing. But overall, this just wasn't that funny, and features bad CGI, editing, and a dull, predictable story. Hope no one minds me spoiling this (having trouble putting in the spoiler tag), but Hoff and Pam make cameos.

If you change the screen to BBCode at the bottom, the spoilers are much easier to use.

I actually enjoyed Baywatch—I consider it "decent." Yes, it is stupid, but it is deliberately stupid, and I found it funny at times and relatively engrossing. Despite constituting a delirious, swirling mix of comedy (including some parody), James Bond-style intrigue and action, and sheer lowbrow spectacle, the film seems to possess a clear perspective of what it wants to be. There is no substance whatsoever, no social relevance outside of a few racial and gender jokes and a little commentary on how money can buy politicians, and no realism—the narrative is ridiculous. But, again, the film is supposed to be ridiculous—the movie knows that it is ridiculous—so it rather works as an entertainment piece. And using Biggie Smalls' "Hypnotize" during the opening credits sequence, twenty years after the song's release, is a nice touch.
If you do not expect anything significant, you might be entertained.

I got no connection to the tv show. I'll probably just rent it or something. The only real connections are the cameos (mentioned previously in the thread) by Hasselhoff and Anderson—whose names appear in the opening credits, so you know that you will see them at some point. But those cameos do foster a little connectivity, so to speak.

That said, I'm totally down for it, because Zac and The Rock.... they generate some good, bantering chemistry. The movie takes itself much less seriously than the television show (not that the TV show seriously took itself seriously); the film is essentially a comedy with some parody mixed in.

Watched it with the wife over the weekend. It was a decent, fun film. Nothing too great but at least I didn't feel like I wasted my money on it. Dwayne and Zac are not a bad combo.

I don't get why this is a comedy. Baywatch was never a comedy. It was funny, sure, but not because it was trying to be funny.
Same with Starsky and Hutch a few years back. What's with comedy remakes of non-comedies?

What's with comedy remakes of non-comedies? Exactly! Baywatch TV series was not a comedy. They should have made the movie more in line with the show's premise, like the A-Team movie.

I get they were going for a 21 Jump Street style but they could have easily made it a less raunchy movie but still poke fun at the show. Like the Brady Bunch movie or Get Smart. Those movies are the only ones that seem to get it right.
