Bell turned down $15 million per year last year. Bet on himself and he'll never make that money back.

How much were the Steelers offering him guaranteed? Guaranteed money is all that matters. He's getting $35 mil from the Jets. There are debates on Twitter right now differing of opinions on what the Steelers offer was.
The only thing I'd say he "won't get back" would be the money he could have gotten by playing half the season on the franchise tag. But who knows, he could have blown out his knee in those games. His decision, he's got to live with it.

Steelers offered him 5 years/70 mil...but nobody knows how that was structured. We can assume it wasn’t as much guaranteed or a lot on the back end maybe. Either way Bell didn’t like it enough to stay. If you ask me he just wanted to try free agency 2 years ago and was spurned by the franchise tag. So I don’t think he’d have accepted most Steelers offers last year.
I’m fine with him moving on. No hard feelings there. Contrary to the Brown situation, Bell seemed to handle it like a professional.

I'm putting it out there right now. Neither Bell, nor Antonio Brown, will have production anywhere near what they'll be making this year.

The Steelers very very rarely don't follow through with their contracts - - hell, they are still playing Ryan Shazier two years after he was as injured as he was. Guys like Hines Ward and Jerome Bettis got every dollar on their THIRD contracts with the team. He wanted to get paid like a "weapon" . . . and got paid as the second-best running back in the league. Which isn't bad, but when guys like Mitch Morse and Kwan Alexander can change the market for center and inside linebacker despite being nowhere near the best at their positions, Bell's contract is a failure in terms of "setting the market".

Michigan State colors were important to him.

It's a good fit. The Jets won't be paying anyone else much cash for those years, might as well spend it.
I think they can win 10 games or so, I'll put them in the playoffs because Buffalo & Miami.
