... that really frustrated me. By the end of their respective films, both of them somehow unlock their full power out of the blue against the main villain. I get that Diana obviously always had it I guess because she's a Goddess, same with Carol but it was just being suppressed by the device on her neck, but it just felt lazy for them to both access it when the story required it.

I hope to see it again this weekend, but isn't there a scene where Yon-rogg says what was given can be ungiven? Or was it the Supreme? I took that to mean the blood, etc was a dampening as well

True. I normally don't mind these kinds of "awakenings" in movies, provided it's just a single movie. However, if it's part of a series of movies and you do it at the very beginning, you risk leaving no room for the character to grow. Thor's power growth is a good example of how things like this should be handled in long term.

I took that to mean the blood, etc was a dampening as well They lied to her and told her that they gave her her powers. They used the dampening device to control them so she would not know any better. In reality, she was always in full control of her powers and just did not know it.

With CM there's an explanation to 'unlocking her potential.' She's been brainwashed and given a dampening chip so control her powers. Once she's free of the mental and physical grip of the Kree, she can really let loose with her powers (which are really just amplified versions of what she already had). The Wonder Woman final fight makes no sense at all as she suddenly develops powers she never showed an inkling of and will never use again.

But she suddenly knows how to control that full power in an instant!?!

She was a pilot so flying was second nature to her as well. I don't think she did anything that showed 'full control' of her amplified power. She threw a warhead and flew through a ship. Not like she did anything that she needed a high state of concentration to accomplish.

It threw her off balance a few times.

I took that to mean the blood, etc was a dampening as well I just went to see it again and I think they both might have said it, or a formulation that amounted to the same thing. I got the impression they were doing to make her think she was beholden to them for her powers, at least when the Intelligence said it near the end. It was a way of controlling her, like the thing on her neck.
