Defending Gary: Unraveling the Mind of the Green River Killer. Written by his defence lawyer. Also this www.amazon.co.uk/Texas-Death-Row-Bill-Crawford/dp/0141038667 Chronicles those put to death in Texas. Every page details an executed crim. It has a mug shot, personal details, crimes, last meal and last words. Rather fascinating.

The Bible. Tons of murder, incest, and spousal abuse. Also involves some Charles Manson looking dude claiming to be a messiah.

On the Zodiac Killer: "This is the Zodiac Speaking" by Kelleher and Van Nuys. On the Mad Butcher of Kingbury Run: "In the Wake of the Butcher" by James Jessen Badal. On the BTK Strangler: "Nightmare in Wichita" by Robert Beattie. On Bonnie and Clyde: "Go Down Together" by Jeff Gunn. On the Lindbergh kidnapping: "Hauptman's Ladder" by Richard T. Cahill Jr. On the Kennedy assasination: "Reclaiming History: The Assassination of John F. Kennedy" by Vincent Bugliosi. The followup to "Death's Acre", "Beyond the Body Farm" by Bass and Jefferson. Any of Harold Schechter's books on serial killers.
I own over 200 books on True Crime and have read many more.

The Man on the Train (2017) by Bill James. At the least, it really drives home the point of how vast and isolated the United States used to be, making it easier for serial killers to make a getaway a hundred years ago.
Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann. Fascinating 'based on a true story' account about the Osage Indian murders back in the 1920s and how it put the FBI in the national spotlight.

is it about louis le prince?. Oh no, far more sinister. James posits that the Villisca Axe murders were but one example of a decade long crime spree by the same serial killer.
