The geniuses at work at FIFA are seriously considering increasing the number of teams in the World Cup from 32 to 48 already in the next tournament, Qatar 2022. If that is confirmed, they would probably need additional host cities in a different country in the region.
Looking forward to watching Suriname vs Nepal in December 2022!

I have no problems with people boycotting the FIFA WC based on ethics of host nations and their human rights records. I am however not going to jump on dislike 48 team WC. I will first see a 48 team WC and then conclude whether it diminishes my enjoyment or not.

I think expanding the World Cup is a terrible idea for many reasons, but it certainly won't stop me from watching it.

Done deal, the new Jack Walker has put Africa's weight behind it and those FAs provide votes for money if the past is anything to go by.
