I was watching Godfather II the other day on AMC. That scene in the hotel room where Michael and Kay fight, eventually leading up to Mike hitting her.
Is that the most intense marital fight in movie history?
I'm not talking about something like an insane Jack chasing Shelley Duvall with an axe, that's Hollywood craziness. I'm talking about a realistic spousal argument.

I'm talking about a realistic spousal argument. Godfather 1 had Michaels sister getting beat with a belt by her husband (Carlo). Most of the major damage was offscreen if I remember but the sounds and implication were all there.

Dolores Claiborne has some solid moments of abuse as well. Straight up fights between husband and wife.
