So it's 2:30 in the morning here in California, or in Millar's world, what you people call "prime time", and guess what? We've got A's/Mariners from Tokyo, Japan!
It's gonna be an Ichiro lovefest, featuring non-stop drooling from ESPN.
Anyone up and watching besides me?

Damn, Ichiro is looking old.
Is this the first year they've done this? It's weird. The regular season doesn't start for another week for everybody else. Odd placement.

They've opened the season before, though I'm not sure how many times. I know the Sox opened the 2008 season against the A's in Japan. Watching this game in the dome reminds me of Expos home games, or the Mariners playing in the old Kingdome.

The first Grand Salami of the 2019 season!
And if anyone had Domingo Santana in your pool, congratulations.

The very underrated Khris Davis with a 2-run BOMB. 5-4 Seattle in the 3rd.
Not exactly a pitchers duel in Tokyo.

Well, it's March 28, and the game being played will count in the standings, so yeah, I went ahead and called it real baseball. I didn't set the date, you might want to send your complaint to the MLB offices.

Just realize the game is still going on. Mariners 9-7 bottom 8th.

Well the Mariners beats the A's. Baseball season started, but it feels like a pre-season game.

Strickland does the job (don't get too comfortable M's fans), and Seattle is currently the best team in baseball.
Fun game, cool atmosphere in Japan. And baseball gets rolling yet again.
When it's October 28, and we're watching the Red Sox win the World Series again, let us remember this enjoyable opening to the 2019 season.

Khris Davis is the ultimate statistical anomaly. 4 straight seasons batting exactly .247. Solid, consistent power threat that gets zero attention. Guy led all of baseball in HRs last year and you never hear boo about him.

Damn, Ichiro is looking old. Is this the first year they've done this? It's weird. The regular season doesn't start for another week for everybody else. Odd placement. As millar pointed out, they've done this a few times. Haven't they opened in Puerto Rico a few times now too? Back in 2000, fuckhead Mike Hampton's much ballyhooed first start with the Mets came in Tokyo against Slammin' Sammy Sosa in the Cubs, where he issued 9 walks in 5 innings, tossing just 51 of his 103 pitches for strikes and taking the L. Yucko.

Watching the 2nd game now, 3-0 Mariners in the 4th.
The big news is that it's been announced that tonight is Ichiro's last game. He's 0-2 so far tonight, but is still in game. Would imagine he'll get one more plate appearance.
