Boat coming from Columbia out to Europe. Pitstop in Philly. This ain't you're local street corner drug hoodlum pocketing $50 folks - $18 mil in Coke was seized. Who do you think are running those docks? Love stories like this - as I've long been fascinated by mob stories. Mob dead or alive? Go!

Dying of shame now. Think Lucky Luciano, Carlo Gambino or Vito Corleone could nave been whacked by this doofus They are still around Buffalo. Used to be huge. When we lived in north Buffalo, there was a bakery a block away. My brother used to run up every day to "get the number". It's not there anymore. They were big on the Unions, now the Unions are neutered. We still hear about the Todaro's and La Nova Pizzerias. Best pizza in town.

The Cosa Nostra?
Sure, they are alive and well.
They are much more involved in manipulating the financial markets than in their more traditional pursuits though... Lower risk, 'legitimate' business ๐

The mob isnโt dead but it is nowhere near what it used to be.
My grandfather was a bookie who worked for Angelo Bruno and was good friends with Chickie Narducci. I remember when I was young, my dad would drive him all over Philly collecting money from people.
Some time around 87 or 88, the FBI come to the house and arrested him. Me, my brothers, and several cousins were over there at the time. I can still remember my grandmother calling the agents cocksuckers.
When he died in 89, two men came by to collect a paper grocery bag fill 3/4s with cash that he kept in the refrigerator. For about a year after his death, we found cash stuffed in weird places including under every other shingle of the neighbors wall that joined our grandparents yard.

There was a pretty big mafia hit on Staten Island recently. It was the first real high profile, public, mob related murder in NY since the Gotti era, I believe.

It doesnโt appear to be a mob hit though. Turns out this dumbass was dating the bossโs niece and was told to stay away from her. This was his revenge. At least this was the story the NY Post ran with yesterday

Joey Merlino used to hang at a dive bar there in the upstairs after going up the fire escape (apparently to make business decisions) ramona Africa (the whole bombing of Philly ordeal with mayor Wilson good had moved there too) I get a channel out here called 'REELZ' on dish network on channel 299. they play mob shows everynight and did a special on Philly - who's the fat cop turned Mafiso that sided with either Bruno or Scarfo and then turned informant and bragged about it. he was pretty much playing everybody - to each their own - but took down people along the way. whata rat and lowlife. apparently he pulled in a lot of money in atlantic city

Ron previte was the cop who worked for Scarfo.
I was born and raised in Fishtown so I was raised around crime in one way or other. It wasnโt until I was older and looked back on it how shady things were back then.

There used to be a grocery store located at Berks and Girard just down from the 26th district police station that was owned by Peter and Mario Maggio who also owned Maggio Cheese. The store was called Farmers Choice. Peter and Mario were gangsters, their mom was Angelo Brunoโs sister. My mom worked for them at the store. They called me and my two brothers their Irish nephews. When we would go visit my mom at work, Peter or Mario would give us a basket and tell us to fill it up with candy. We ate some much shitty candy back then.

Either I never watched it (which happened often with Netflix rentals) or I just donโt remember watching it.
