I watch Collider Movie Talk and Heroes, I watch other YOUTube commentators speculating about the DCEU post-JL...
Most of them agree that Ben Affleck is not only stepping down as Director of "The Batman", that he is actually going to step down altogether and they are going to replace him.
Some suggest it will be a prequel trilogy with a younger man being the same Bruce (but younger) fighting Joker, Riddler, Penguin, Two-Face etc....
Some suggest they will just flat out replace him with a similar aged actor and keep moving forward.
Some suggest the Flash will 'f' up the timeline and the whole thing will be a soft-reboot with brighter films.
Consider this possibility, what if they aren't? What if Ben is in "The Batman"? Why is that so hard to believe? I don't think they are replacing him, I don't think the flash is going to reboot the whole universe, I don't think they are going to do any of that stuff.
The only one that 'might' make sense would be a prequel trilogy before the events of Man of Steel (arrival of Superman). However, I doubt it.
I think they are going to make "The Batman" and it's going to be Ben, and I think Ben will do JL Part II. At that point, I could see him moving on. They announced Matt Damon as Darkseid.
Why would they bring in Ben's buddy Matt Damon as Darkseid if they weren't going to play this up for JL part II?

Matt Reeves probably wants to do more than one Batman movie, so he might want a "clean slate" (as far as the actor goes). He probably doesn't want to have to recast in the middle of his trilogy. Plus, being Batman is very demanding, and Ben is in his mid-40s. It's not exactly "easy" for him to get into Batman shape. And when you couple that with all of his personal issues, it's pretty clear that the writing is on the wall. He's done after JL.
But they certainly won't announce that until after JL comes out.

I hope he stays as Batman for future movies but chances look very slim. He was the highlight of BVS.

Vicious rumors in place of actual news.

As far as I know, the main reason that Affleck stepped down from directing The Batman had to do with problems in his personal life. The failure of Live by Night probably didn't help.

well we have the whole BvS kind of got panned (as well as SS), then for months we had (and actually almost a year) Ben saying "if they script is good, if I get it to where I want it I'll direct it" and well that didn't happen, then we toss in his domestic and personal struggles, Live by Night flopping and getting sidelined by critics. and also with WB reshuffling projects, playing with directors' edits, brining in and tossing out of producers, all this combined might make people think and hear (since they are also in the Hollywood area)....maybe Ben wants out, perhaps it's just overwhelming.
