and what are his powers without the stones? Super strength/durability and intelligence? Can anyone beat him one-on-one?

He's a pretty tough customer. Though it seems in the first Guardians movie, he was taken aback by Ronan absorbing the power of the Orb.

In Guardians of the Galaxy, even before Thanos had any of the stones, Korath said something about Thanos being the most powerful being in the Universe.
So even ordinarily he'd beat up the likes of Thor, Hulk, Hela apparently.

I don't think Thanos used either stone when he fought Hulk. They made sure to show the Stones glow when Thanos used them throughout the movie but the Power Stone did not glow when he fought Hulk.

Well that's true and I also can't see how he'd be more powerful than the likes of Dormammu or Surtur or anything like that. As he is normally I imagine he simply has the Hulks abilities just to a higher extent. I don't see how that would be enough to beat someone like Dormammu. That said Korath knows about Captain Marvel supposedly the most powerful hero and he still said Thanos was the strongest.

It's plausible he wasn't talking about pure fighting ability only, but also resources and lackeys at their disposal as well.

Recently rewatched Guardians and I still don't understand how Ronan absorbed the power of the stone without dying. Also worth asking is why Thanos thought it was a good idea to leave Loki in possession of two of the Infinity Stones at the same time in Avengers. Concerning Thanos' power in the films, it's kind of dumb if he wasn't using the stones. He shouldn't be able to overpower the Hulk so easily. The line about Thanos being the 'most powerful being in the universe' is hyperbole; or at least its use should be questioned here. Like saying the US president is the most powerful man on the Earth isn't suggesting he could personally kick everyone's ass himself.

In the comics, Thanos' immense power is the result of centuries of cybernetic, mystical, and genetic enhancement to his body. Even without the upgrades, Thanos was born an Eternal of Titan whose natural strength and endurance is comparable to Asgardians - very "hard to perish."

Drax is no challenge for him whatsoever and Ronan mentioned something about the Guardians being mortal when they defeated him – meaning he's not.

Why the fuck did Wonder Woman try to use the Lasso of Hestia on Ares when the sword she believed to be the Godkiller proved absolutely useless against him seconds earlier?

You think the DCEU movies have good writing. So your opinion is worthless. Much like the majority of your posts.

He can't stop a Disney merger with or without the stones.

Why the fuck did Wonder Woman try to use the Lasso of Hestia on Ares when the sword she believed to be the Godkiller proved absolutely useless against him seconds earlier? The sword wasn't the Godkiller. And the Lasso of Hestia was created by Hephaestus, so its power is divine and compels anyone to tell the truth.
