I put Koufax at 5 or 6. Not when other guys had tremendous seasons for far longer. Grove and even Kershaw might be above Koufax at this point. You'd have to put Randy Johnson above him (did he juice? Definitely a suspect). I still say Spahn is the greatest. 21 seasons, threw up a 3.03 ERA, 13 20-win seasons.
Others in the mix - Ford, Carlton and Glavine.

My wife's grandfather lived in NYC and was a baseball nut. Seen thousands of games in person. From the 30's on. I asked him who the best pitcher he seen and he answered "Sanford Koufax" without hesitation. Not when he pitched for the Brooklyn Dodgers but when he pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He said that you could tell after a couple batters than no one was going to get to him on that day. And the hitters knew. This guy seen Lefty Grove, King Carl Hubbell, Whitey Ford, Buffalo's own Warren Spahn and none was as good as Koufax. Don't forget Spahn. People think he put up numbers because he pitched until he was 285 years old, but he missed three years in the Military. He gets 13 wins a season for those three (age 22 -24) then he has 400 wins.

Yup, missed 3 years for military service, still threw up all those wins. He could have had a couple more 20 wins seasons, that's mind boggling.

In my lifetime Randy Johnson and Steve Carlton. Iβll trust the anectdotal evidence on Spahn, Koufax, & Grove that they are up there too in some order.

Koufax first 6 years, age 19-24 36-40 4.52 ERA 692 IP, 583 HA, 1.428 WHIP, 683 Ks, 405 BB
Last 6, age 25-30 129-47 2.53 ERA 1633 IP, 1171 HA, 0.970 WHIP, 1713 Ks, 412 BB
Pitched 1966 in agony.
Had he been able to pitch those last 6 years in reverse from age 31-36, his totals would have been
294-134 2.88 ERA 3957 IP 2925 HA, 1.05 WHIP, 4109 Ks, 1229 BB

My personal favorite lefty was Bruce Hurst. Jimmy Key for me. There was a time where Jimmy Key scared me more than any other pitcher in baseball. 1985-88, there was no one who owned the Sox like Jimmy Key did.
