"I studied him. From John Wayne, I found that you've gotta be a good person. He was the same person onscreen as he was off. He was concerned about everybody from the waiter to the president of the company. He treated everybody with respect. I couldn't get over it. He used to be the first one on the set. You'd see these horse handlers goofing around, and he's set up, waiting for them. I'd say, 'Excuse me.' I'd say, 'Hey, let's go! Let's get started here! John Wayne's standing there, and you guys are still fooling around!' "He was just an amazing person. I think being around him, I became a better entertainer and a better person."
