With the injuries to Jeffress and Knebel, and their lack of depth in the rotation, the Brewers have to make this happen. They're in a window now and with small market teams, those windows can be harder to maintain, so they need Kimbrel. They're right in the middle of the pack in terms of salary at $120.5m, so it could be a bit of a stretch for them, but still. Also, I see Aramis Ramirez is getting $3m from them this year. Good for you, Aramis!

Kimbrel to the Brewers would be a great move for both, the Brewers have a very talented team but they really need a closer.

They know something is medically wrong with him? Because their total payroll going into the year is around $238m and they don't want to go further over the luxury tax threshold when they have other guys coming down the pike that they're going to need to extend. If they sign Kimbrel, they'd definitely bump themselves into the higher luxury tax bracket, it would be like paying for Kimbrel twice.

is he going to play this year? I'd bet he signs somewhere next month and then promptly gets injured and is out for the year because he's not in playing shape.
