I thought they already did that with The Covenant except they were all dudes?

If they remade Sleepwalkers, I might be a little more impressed.

I have 'The Craft' and 'The Covenant' on dvd. I think there are some similarities. I enjoy both.

I don't think I have heard of 'The Covenant' but I liked 'The Craft' especially the soundtrack which had an awesome cover version of the Cars' 'Dangerous Type' by Letters to Cleo and songs by three of my all time favourite artists Jewel, Juliana Hatfield and Heather Nova and from what I have heard about this last year it is not a remake. It is a sequel which takes place 20 years after the original movie and has some of the old cast returning.

So is this officially a remake? I thought I heard originally it was supposed to be a sequel. Remake might be the smarter choice.

It was originally supposed to be a sequel, but because the audience didn’t get what Kiefer sutherland’s character was talking about in one scene they made it a remake. I think a remake is a much smarter way to go.

Hollywood displays its total inability to generate an original idea yet again.

I never saw the original as I thought it looked more teen drama with witches than horror. Am I missing something?

I never saw the original as I thought it looked more teen drama with witches than horror. Am I missing something? No, I don't think you are. It's actually a good set up and basic premise for a horror film, or a teen drama for that matter, but it was ultimately just a typical 90s teen movie. Not the worst fodder for a remake, but I have no hope that it will be done any better this time.

Hollywood displays its total inability to generate an original idea yet again. I don't buy that. There are plenty of original ideas out there. It's just a lot safer and easier to make money off of existing IP. Apparently, even when it's something like The Craft that nobody particularly cares about.

It doesn't matter how many of them are out there if no one ever sees them. It makes me tend to doubt their existence.

It's all about the return on the investment and not taking risks. But there certainly are stories out there.

I'm not sure what you're arguing exactly. You said you doubt there are any original ideas, even unmade ones, in Hollywood; I cited a place where you can find some. I wish more of them were made instead of rehashes too, but I dont think it's for lack of ideas. It's a business issue.
