Am I alone here? The cubs got a great deal on him to replace chapman. The yankees paid chapman kings ransom for 5 years. Not only do i think davis is a little bit better, but he was far cheaper. thoughts?

As a Yankees fan I'm not too happy about the Chapman contract. I think, from a certain perspective, you have to acknowledge that this is a team that has always had a lights-out closer and is used to that luxury.
But paying that kind of money doesn't exactly fit the overall strategy of rebuilding with a young, (relatively) cheap team. It's like the Yanks finally got all this money off their payroll, and more is coming off -- and the money is burning a hole in the team's pocket.
That said, I think the Yankees front office is convinced it can compete with Bird, Sanchez, Judge and the other whippersnappers.

im a fan as well. they gave him too much. in 2 years, we will see his velocity go down, and he doesn't have a great secondary pitch (although his slider looked great last night). he relies on his fastball and his command isn't great.
next year we have a lot more coming off the payroll, so get ready for a shopping spree in the offseason

I agree, I would take Wade Davis over Chapman. Davis seems to have a wider selection of pitches where as Chapman relies solely on his 100 MPH fastball. Both are great but I think Wade Davis is the best closer in the league.
