What players do you all hope your team drafts?
Once my team gets eliminated from playoff contention I look straight to the draft. I listen to a podcast "Stick to Football" which is a college/draft focused pod from Bleacher Reports Matt Miller and Connor Rogers which I enjoy a lot and they give out a lot of information and do a lot of mock drafts on Mondays. Yeah I know, mock drafts are mostly useless but at the same time I find them fun and informative to look at.
For me, the Packers have 2 first round picks and since they made a few big moves in Free Agency I like that they don't have to reach for need.
At 12 there are 2 players that I am really looking at and they are DL Ed Oliver and TE TJ Hockenson. Oliver with Daniels and Clark could be a scary dline plus the pass rush of Smith and Smith has the potential to wreck offenses. TJ Hockenson as an Iowa Hawkeye fan I am biased but I think is the #1 offensive weapon in this draft position be damned. Packers have kicked the can down the road long enough on a TE. Rumor has it that new Packers coach Matt LaFleur likes TE's that can do it all and Hock is one of the best all around TE prospects in a long time.
At 30 I'm thinking TE Noah Fant (if Hock isn't picked at 12) who I think they're have to trade up into the early 20's for imo. OL Dalton Risner would be a good pick imo. S Nasir Adderley I like and oddly enough is related to former Packer great Herb Atterley.

Thoughts on the Giants and Dwayne Haskins talk? Rumors are that they aren't interested in him and other rumors saying it's a smoke screen. I personally think it would be a mistake for them not to get their QB of the future but the Giants have quickly become a joke so many feel like they're destined to screw this up.

Most Bills draft previews have them taking a DL with the #9. I hope they are wrong. Josh Allen needs protection and targets. Fuck replacing Kyle Williams. For the first time since Jim Kelly, the team has a QB. Why let him get pounded or see his passes dropped? It's not like the Bills are a Super Bowl treats next year. But they could be in a couple years if Allen isn't in traction or a wheelchair. And the fan base won't like hearing some DL name in the first round, even if it's Nick Bosa. If there isn't a top WR. TE or OL at #9, trade down.

I think the Colts should prioritize a legit WR2 to complement Hilton. Maybe Marquise Brown or DK Metcalf.

I'm just not certain on what WR I like this year outside of Deebo Samuel. If a WR isn't there maybe go with a pass rusher like Brian Burns if her slides?

I personally think it would be a mistake for them not to get their QB of the future but the Giants have quickly become a joke so many feel like they're destined to screw this up. The most recent word is that the Giants aren't especially interested in Haskins, but are interested in a trade for Josh Rosen if the price is right. Drafting a first round QB is a real hit or miss proposition. If you get it wrong it can set you back for years. They don't seem to like him that much, so to draft a QB for the sake of it could be bad. Getting Rosen, who is essentially a first rounder, for less than a first round pick and still having the chance at trading up for the guy you want in a few years if Rosen doesn't emerge at the face of the franchise seems like a playing-it-safe approach if they can pull it off.

I see Houston DT Ed Oliver a lot. He was a beast. Two years ago. Hurt and not as effective in 2018. He went from a top 3 pick to a top 10 pick.

The Rosen route I think would be a smart move. Kiper keeps saying that Daniel Jones is who the Giants are targeting but I dont really value his insight anymore. He seems more like a TV talking head more so than a scout or analyst anymore. Plus rumors of agents paying him to give their clients higher rankings puts me off on his opinion.

Interesting. I wouldnt think to mock a DT to the Bills. I'm really hoping that Oliver falls to 12 but with each test he takes he seems to lock himself into the top 10. I think it would be a mistake for the Bills to not help Allen with that pick somehow.

Take notes folks,
Here's how you build an NFL team - first with the draft and next during free agency
O-Line QB D-Line CB TE Safties WR RB LB Special Teams
You've got questions? I've got answers.
I'm hoping the Birds nab an O-Lineman or 4 in the draft. It all starts up front. Protecting the QB and and giving him time to it receivers and open gaps for running backs.
Like the NBA - it seems at times the NFL is transitioning off in certain circumstances into 'positionless basketball' - oops - football. RBs line up at WR. TEs line up at WR. Some corners are so big they can play some safety. Some safties are so big they can play some LB. Some O-Lineman are like a Swiss Army Knife and can not only play Center, but Tackle and Guard too.
Notice how high I have TE. Know why? Athletes are getting bigger, quicker stronger. TEs can not only just catch in the middle now - great blockers (and chippers) that can get off the line during a screen or play action. They can also stretch the field now. I.E. they're physical Swiss Army Knives who can play multiple roles
Long story short - Peters and Kelce are getting old - I want an O-Lineman.

I want the Falcons to draft either DL or DB, I think they should go with a DB, their corners sucked last year, but a good DL would help as well and there are a slew of DL available this year. If the Falcons stay healthy and the defense improves, we could make a deep playoff run IMO, the offense should be phenomenal, the Falcons receiving corps is the best in the NFL IMO.

Any specific DB you're looking at? From what I've heard they (scouts I listen to) have 3 or 4 with first round grades. Greedy Williams from LSU, Byron Murphy from Washington, Rock Ya-Sin from Temple, and Deandre Baker from Georgia I hear a lot about.

I can't tell if the Giants are bluffing or not with Haskins. But if I was any of the teams who need a quarterback, I'd take Rosen for a second over this year's quarterback for a first.

If it's the Giants it would be smart. Just think, they could end up with Barkley and Rosen from last years class. I just get the feeling that he's gonna end up on the Patriots because it's just a smart move to make for damn near any team and I just get the feeling that it's a move that a team like the Patriots could make.

It feels like the secondary positions are really deep this year, but nobody is great. I could see zero corners and safeties going in the first 20 picks but a bunch going before the third round starts.

And the Pats have extra supplemental picks that they can give up to get him. I was listening to the First Draft podcast today, and Todd McShay said he's heard buzz about the Raiders taking Drew Lock at 4. If that happens, it will be a crazy opening Thursday night of the draft.

I would LOVE this simply because the more QB's going in the top 10 the better as better players can drop to 12 for the Packers.
