If you go to rotten tomatoes none of the reviews are fresh on the first page and they're all 40 year old white dudes. I don't need a 40 year old white dude telling me that Dumbo didn't work for him it wasn't made for him I want to know what this movie meant to elephants

I don`t really see the point in a live action movie of Dumbo or any of the classic animated Disney movies

I don`t really see the point in a live action movie of Dumbo or any of the classic animated Disney movies You do realize that most of the Disney animated movies are based on books, right? Beauty and the Beast was a movie long before the 1991 animated version for example. I don't see the point in remaking the animated Disney version, but the new Dumbo movie looks like a completely different movie from the animated version. If you look at the writing credits for the new Dumbo movie it says "based on the novel by," but doesn't say based on the animated movie. Beauty and the Beast (2017) however, credits the animated movie and the novel. Point being that I am not opposed to a updated adaptation of the source material.

Tim Burton has just been sliding further and further into mediocrity. His last decent film imo was Big Eyes but it seems no one saw that.

I used to be a big fan of his work, but the last film of his that I enjoyed was Sleepy Hollow. And that came out in 1999. His heydey ran from the late 80s to the mid-90s.

Are they really "bad? I'm seeing 54%, which I'm assuming is just "mehish". In some ways that's actually worse though, that just means it's rather bland and unremarkable and will leave no lasting impression. It's essentially another "Brother Bear" (2003)

Tim Burton has just been sliding further and further into mediocrity. His last decent film imo was Big Eyes but it seems no one saw that. Burton seems to have a "one for me, one for the studio" approach to his films. If a more personal project like Big Eyes or Ed Wood doesn't make the big bucks, then he can always fall back on a big-budget studio commercial film like Alice in Wonderland, Planet of the Apes, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, etc. to help get his career back on track.

I am saying what if the new Dumbo movie was actually a close adaptation of the novel and a very good movie? Would you still be opposed to it just because it already exists as a famous animated movie? It obviously isn't a good movie based on the critics, but I am asking a hypothetical question.
