'The Long Riders'
* A Swede talks gibberish. * A smug yankee "gets these hands" for excess gobbing. * Rider yells sideways streetwise for essential call-outs. * Trigger-happy snipers are picked off themselves, falling through branch rooves and on to wooden floors.
* A rider gets taken down by a tree. * A rider sucks up a colossal gut shot.
* A rider gets lassoed by his own horse and dragged down a street. * Riders fly through a shop window on horseback. * A rider screams with a yowl that imitates the sound of his struggling horse.
* A rider gets riddled with bullets and still makes it on to a horse (with a little help from his friends)
* A rider gets shot through the face (you hear his teeth rattle on the soundtrack - vintage Walter Hill). * The riders ride through interspersed tree footage in an avant-garde effect, knowing the biggest (internal) battle (among themselves) is still to come.

That entire sequence was just a work of art. Brilliantly done by Walter Hill.

That entire sequence was just a work of art. Brilliantly done by Walter Hill. I've watched it countless times. I find it so exciting.
