Nightmares and Dreams may be a part of the movie or all of it.

Jimmy Stewart is startled out of a nightmare in "Vertigo." Did anyone in real life ever, because of a nightmare, suddenly sit up straight in bed, face covered in sweat, and eyes bulging - or is it only in the movies?

I think it could be debated whether the entire film The Company of Wolves (1984), which I recently rewatched on TV, is 'all a dream' or not, but the first question asked on the movie's IMDB page in the FAQ section has a really good, solid answer that I think explains the narrative structure of the film and what is/isn't a dream. www.imdb.com/title/tt0087075/faqAll I know for sure is the ending always kind of freaked me out.

I always thought that the film "one upon a time in America" was an opium dream from beginning to end...

Point Blank (1967) could be interpreted as a dream that Walker has after he is shot in the very beginning.

What Dreams May ComeDreamlike / Nightmarish visions of Heaven and Hell The title is derived from William Shakespeare's "Hamlet" (Act 3, Scene 1): "To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub; For in that sleep of death what dreams may come When we have shuffled off this mortal coil must give us pause..."
