Still trying to figure out why people hate Duke more than North Carolina or Kentucky. I can see some of it. Any team that is this successful is bound to be hated. Duke University has an elitist reputation. They have had some truly hateable players, from Danny Ferry to Christian Laettner to Grayson Allen. They do possibly get the benefit of the doubt on some calls, so does Kentucky, North Carolina, Villanova any program that wins a lot. The Thing I don't get is the hatred of Mike Krzyzewski. As far as I've seen, K has been a class act since he took over at Duke. He went on Kentucky radio to personally praise UK's effort in the legendary regional semifinal. He was consoling a UCF player instead of celebrating this year. I'm sure someone will post some bad things about K.
Duke is probably my favorite non-WNY team. Do I go nuts over them, no. Did I cry yesterday, no. It's like saying the Minnesota Twins is my 5th favorite baseball team.

Winners get attention, and with that comes the hate, so I get it. But it isn't like Duke wins any more often than UNC or Kentucky. Even casual fans seem to hate Duke because they think they're supposed to hate Duke. I'm a Duke fan in the same way I'm a Michigan State fan or a UNC fan. I like watching well coached, talented players play winning basketball. Agreed on Krzyzewski, I've always respected him (again, just as I respect Izzo or Roy Williams). The 30 for 30 on Laettner was great, in case you haven't seen it. I think he was the major catalyst for the Duke hate, and he really didn't deserve it. He's like Brady that way. Danny Ferry and Grayson Allen were (are) douchebags who were easy to hate no matter who they played for.

So, if Carolina was one of the games, you got to watch Al Wood and Phil Ford and Mike O"koren run the "Four Corners" and pass the ball for 40 minutes. No shot clock. And I always thought Dean Smith was a smug prick. Read John Feinstein's The Legends Club and you'll see that he was. Carzym huh? Dean's dead, Phil Ford is long gone and we have a shot clock. Still hate UNC.
I've seen I Hate Christian Laettner. I've met Chris, he played HS Basketball with my brother. You can see my brother in the Sweet Home-Nichols fight. He came our house a couple times. He was cool and polite. So was Eddie Haskell, I know. Would he remember me now, fuck no.

I played against Wally Szczerbiak in high school. He was.....better than me. My cousin played against Ralph Sampson in HS. He was 6'1" and Ralphie was 7'4". His team didn't win.
