Tell us again how the all powerful Disney has all the critics in their pocket and can manipulate the box office numbers.

Common sense. My only weakness. How did you know?

Guess they spent all of their resources buying off critics and empty theaters for Captain Marvel. I expect Disneyworld to close any day now.

Doesnt change the fact that rotten tomatoes protected captain marvel. Doesn't change the fact that trolls attacked Captain Marvel and the site was right to try to delete the bogus negative feedback that was skewing the numbers. It had more reviews in a few days than Infinity War had in its entire theatrical run. The site owes it to the industry to protect films from attacks as blatant as that. An individual saying the movie sucks is one thing; a concerted effort to ruin a film's reputation by angry manchildren deserves to be omitted from the record as much as possible.

Tell us again how the all powerful Disney has all the critics in their pocket and can manipulate the box office numbers. It isn't bad. B- movie. I was surprised how hard it went after Disney. Really, really hard. It is interesting Disney is putting out 3 live action remakes of animated films this year. They lack faith in them?

The Aladdin movie looks terrible as well.

This was all a scheme made by WB to boost Shazam's box office opening weekend!

I do think Disney should be more careful about re-releasing their previous animated films into live films. I get the feeling that they're jumping the gun.

That's too bad, sort of. I kind of expected it to be a little bit shit anyways, but I also expected society to just go with it.
The only attraction for me is seeing Batman and the Penguin reunited onscreen, but I definitely never asked for a life action Dumbo. Or Beauty and the Beast, or Lion King.

Its like they totally expect the 1st 2 to bomb & are just coasting to Lion King.

Not to pick on you, but I REALLY hate this. When did this become a thing? I don't recall asking for ANY movie ever to be made. People dismiss films as "I didn't ask for them to make Solo". I don't think ANY of us ASKED for Star Wars, but we loved it when it was given to us. I sure as hell have been wanting a prequel of Han before Star Wars. Do my desires outweigh all the little kiddies born since the original was released? So, yeah. I don't remember asking for Star Wars or Ghostbusters or Raiders of the Lost Ark or any of them. Studios made them & we loved them or hated them

Studios made them & we loved them or hated them It's just a figure of speech. I know no movie that's ever made has ever been mandatory. On every occasion, literally every occasion I've liked a movie (thousands) I've always known I was lucky somebody took the time and trouble to make them.
Fact is I'll probably see Dumbo eventually because it's just what I do. I movie. I do enjoy having a little bit of teeth in these conversations too. Sometimes I like joking, but if I'm forced to be serious then the truth is it makes me happy when people enjoy movies, even movies I don't. I don't expect a single soul on Earth to hold back on the live action remakes because I'm not interested in them. This could be this generation's children's chance to be inspired and starry-eyed and I wouldn't wish that taken away from them for the world. I always recommend movies. I never tell people what not to watch because they could see, appreciate or enjoy something I missed. You could literally miss out on your favorite movie because someone said don't bother, it's not worth it. I didn't ask for any of those movies is still true, but I wouldn't dream of getting in the way of somebody who did. No siree.
I didn't even ask for any of my favorites. I just happen upon them like some guy who keeps stumbling over and happens to find himself face to face with the odd nugget of gold. That's my life.

It's a good movie. Not glued to one's seat sort. My kid made some comment on Burton's recent failures, but whatever her idea (something about not wanting to take risks), I pointed out he's not hungry any longer. He doesn't have that need to prove anything anymore so he's living a comfortable middle-aged life so maybe he's lost touch with that muse that made him come up with Edward Scissorhands. I kinda teared up when Dumbo flew. I was shocked at how dastardly Keaton was. (I thought Devito was going to be the baddie as the guy running the circus where Dumbo is separated from his mom). It was a surprise to see Alan Arkin. I am surprised they got to portray Disneyland in such a horrible light.

Dumbo suffers from third act-itus. First two acts were actually okay, IMO, but that third act was not good.
