As a separate entity from any universe that DC plans on doing, I think it's a good film experience really, but then where do they go on from there? Do they intend to start an R-rated (I assume it'll be R) universe for Batman? Personally, though, I still stand behind my belief that it's unnecessary for a backstory for the Joker and it clearly looks like Oscar-bait if you ask me. Not saying it negates Phoenix's performance, it'll probably be good, but on a cynical day, you could go on to say that it's a bit pretentious.

"I used to think that my life was a tragedy, but now I realize it's a comedy."
Great line. Overall I liked this trailer

Shazam and Joker both look like they are going to be great. Please DC, focus on non extended Universe films

Possible King of Comedy reference with Joker going on what appears to be a talk show? It so, it's very meta, as it appears DeNiro is the talk show host, and the movie is produced by Scorsese.

I don’t love how passive Joaquin’s voiceover was. It’s very unJokerlike.
But the mannerisms at the end were great. Looks interesting.

I don't know. I still don't really understand what they're trying to do here. For instance... WHY does it take place in the 1970s?!
It seems like they just wanted to make a movie about a guy going insane, and just slapped the Joker name on it to make more money.

Looks interesting, Scorsese didn't want to stick around though.

Well it definitely looks different. It's either going to be very good or very bad probably but I appreciate them trying something else.
Unfortunate this couldn't have tied into the DCEU in some way but oh well.
I likely won't see it in the cinema but I'll watch it eventually.

This definitely looks like the most Oscar-baity CBM to date.

It is, but for all we know it could blur the line between tie-in and totally separate pending its chain of events. It's set in the 1980's and Bruce is still a kid(as he was in BvS flashbacks), Joker looks to have quite the following and with everybody saying its a one and done type of deal movie could have an ending where it establishes that Arthur Fleck(Joaquin Phoenix) is not THE Joker we're all familiar with but rather the originator of the name and who actually inspired a younger man to take the title and spread their own brand of chaos in Gotham years later. Only pill that would be hard to swallow to keep this kind of speculation alive would be Thomas Wayne, unless they, though highly unlikely, say that the Thomas we see in the movie is actually a senior and Bruce's Dad, who may be dead already in the movie, is a junior( so Thomas Wayne Sr. and Thomas Wayne Jr. basically).

It looks interesting and unique, but I wish they hadnt chosen Joker as the lead - I dont need or want to know his origin.

Just got a reply from old college buddy from my message with the trailer link.
"This looks like a horrible comic book movie, but looks like it's going to be an excellent suspense, psychological thriller."
