I think it's safe to say Heath is still the King. I was just thinking while watching this, I sure wish Heath had lived to make such a movie! That would have been damned good!

I think it's safe to say Heath is still the King. Of course. There’s no topping him. He gave a perfect performance. That being said, I’m still looking forward to this movie. Phoenix is a strong actor and I’m excited to see his take on the role.

this movie seems really interesting and the unsettling qualities definitely took me by surprise even tho we've seen the test footage from months ago which was a definite allusion of gloom.
i feel that there is a likelihood that the absence of Batman will feel strange. Without a Batman or a Batman analog, there is no "Joker" character, and i feel like almost everyone will agree with me on that. that absence is a big hole which will have to be patched up. but then again these movies never target the core fans because the core fans are always a minority group that does not equal any significant cash flow for the producers. CBMs are always made for the general audience.

What's the over/under on the next trailer being all campy and silly? That seems like the new thing nowadays. Hook people with a haunting and mysterious first trailer and then downgrade into average, goofy blockbuster humor in the trailers after.

- trailer 2 was much less comedic and more "Del Toro Hellboy" imo.

Even though I love both new Hellboy trailers, you're right. The first one was slapstick funny and the second one was more serious with a few comedic elements. I heard that the reason they mostly changed the tone for the second trailer was due to them being accused of being like Deadpool with the first trailer.
I don't think they'll do this with the second Joker trailer. It seems more of a dramatic thriller than a science fiction, action, adventure comedy like Deadpool and Hellboy. And concerning Suicide Squad, it was originally supposed to be much darker and more serious. The first teaser trailer they released showcased this and it didn't go over so well with people. And so, unless I'm mistaken, they panicked and did some reshoots to make sure that the film was more lighthearted and funny, and released the last two trailers with a more wacky tone. I don't think they'll do that with Joker because most people seemed to like it and are interested.

As a movie I think it looks pretty good. Not so sure about it being a Joker movie
