In theory, I agree with this guy but, in reality, it wouldn't work out for me.
I currently have an inventory of 17 seats across four screening of Endgame on opening weekend (Thursday, Friday and Saturday). I honestly don't know exactly how that happened... I did a lot of virtual theater-hopping for better and better seats and, my ticket count just ballooned. As of right now, nearly half of those seats are unaccounted for.
I thought about canceling the excess seats, but then I said: why bother? I'll either get to see the movie again with no one on either side of me or, someone will crawl out of the woodworks looking for a spot at the last minute (this is more likely than me getting to see the movie alone with two opposing empty seats).
So, if this guy is getting roasted in the flames of Anti-MCU perdition for buying two extra seats, I guess I deserve a chair in the flames right next to him... but not directly next to him --- at least one seat apart would be better.
Hee hee hee...

I've actually considered doing this in the past but I've never gone though with it. My wife is usually on one side so I have a smaller chance of sitting next to a maniac. Let's be honest, I'm the maniac anyway.

I don't like sitting next to strangers, either, but I ain't wasting money on tickets I'm not using. In the event that I'm going alone, I'll buy a corner sear in the front row. That row always fills up last; many times I have no one next to me, and worst case scenario I only have someone on one side of me.
