What do you remember (or what were you told) about your first....
taste of coffee taste of beer cigarette anything else that seems relevant?
really didn't like the taste of coffee or beer. It was "How can anyone drink that?"
First cigarette I thought was nothing. Didn't know was supposed to inhale.

I had my first coffee when I started school, it was half milk, half coffee. My mother was a first generation American and this practice was not uncommon among many parents who were first generation Americans. I probably had tea earlier because whenever I was sick I was given very sweet, hot Lipton tea. When I was young, whenever my parents had beer (it was rare, they weren't drinkers)I was allowed a few sips. I never had a cigarette, my father was a 3 pack a day man and I hated the smell. I did smoke part of a cigar when I was in college, I lost a bet and that was the forfeit, after a few puffs, I threw up and had a terrible headache.

I had my first taste of coffee when I was about 4, when I visited my paternal grandmother. She would have a cup of coffee, and I would have a cup of milk that was ever so slightly brown. I don't know the milk-coffee ratio was that she used, but I was having coffee with Grandma! I "sorta" liked it, and associated coffee with a creamy taste - until years later, when I had a full cup. I really don't remember my first impression of it, then. Today, I like coffee black, with no sweeteners. I only remember that I had my first beer(s) at a frat party. I, clearly, remember the next morning. We never had liver, while I was growing up, because my Dad hated it. A group went to dinner before my senior prom, and sauteed chicken livers were served as an appetizer. I had no idea what to expect. I loved them, and liver (calf/chicken) is a favorite, today.

I think I burned my tongue on the first time I tried to drink coffee. I must have been around eight years old. Somehow this bad experience made me hate the very taste and smell of coffee, to the point where for decades I wouldn't touch anything that had any coffee in it - even coffee-flavoured candy, and I have a boulder-sized sweeth tooth. It would probably be about three decades before I decided to challenge my childhood trauma and try drinking coffee again (which I do now, when I am offered).
I don't remember the first time I tried beer. I know that I acquired the taste for it on my first trip to Europe in my early twenties. Before that, I had drank it at parties without really liking it very much.
I think I only tried smoking cigarettes once. Maybe I didn't do it right, because I didn't feel any sensation, pleasurable or otherwise. I think I didn't finish the entire cigarette. Many years later a friend travelled to Cuba and brought me a cigar as a gift. I did smoke that and didn't enjoy it at all.

It's been so long that I don't really remember the first time for any of them. I just know that I've never drank coffee, had exactly two beers in my entire life and hate the smell of cigarettes, beer AND coffee. So, I'm assuming my first times weren't pleasurable.

coffee...genuine arabica coffee is a treat, but it took time for me to delineate between the robusto and the very fine arabica strains
cigarettes...I became addicted to the demon nicotine at a very early age. I kicked a 2 pack a day habit in 1985. It was the very worst thing I ever did to myself. I am still paying for this disgusting habit
beer...mmmmmm...beer good!!!!
other...Pont l'Eveque cheese. Stinks like a dirty butthole, but the flavor of this glorious cheese defies the odor 1000 percent

I think the first time I tasted beer I was pretty shocked by it. I thought it tasted pretty bad. However, that was Budweiser I believe or possibly Coors, two of the worst beers on the market today.
However, I can appreciate a good craft/micro-brewed beer now days. In fact, I would consider beer to be one of the best beverages in the world.
I honestly can't remember the first time I tasted coffee but today I also consider it to be one of the best, if not THE BEST beverage in the world. Try a good micro-lot coffee, you will flip out at how good they taste.
I had one amazing micro-lot coffee the other day from Parlor Coffee Roasters out of New York. It was their Burundi Gaharo, my goodness, what an amazing cup. Tasted like red fruits and sweet tea. Crazy good stuff... had their Peruvian too, also terrific.
Anyhow, didn't like wine either the first time I tried it, thought it was incredibly bitter/tannin. But now I consider it to be a good drink, not as good as beer and coffee but still good. At least you can find some really tasty wines for pretty cheap that are not real bitter.
I quit smoking a long time ago. bad habit really.... I didn't have much of an opinion on cigarettes the first time, I just thought it was cool to do it so I just kept doing it.

I don't remember my first cigarette, I was 11 or 12, it lead to a very long habit that I didn't kick soon enough and left me with COPD. I don't remember the first tastes of coffee or tea, I dislike both and have never liked either. Beer I also don't remember , probably I was still a baby as my mother used to get my alcoholic father drunk and feed me enough to get me to go to sleep. As an adult I liked it way too much and no longer drink that either.
