Why are you an atheist? And what proof or evidence do you have that atheism is true, or that God doesn’t exist?

"Why are you an atheist?"
The lack of evidence for a God would be the main reason. The terrible theistic arguments (Watchmaker argument, moral argument, Pascals Wager) would be the second.
"And what proof or evidence do you have that atheism is true, or that God doesn’t exist?"
That's not how it works (unfalsifiable hypothesis, burden of proof is on the one making the claim, etc). You've been posting for years on this forum, you should know this by now.

What Lowtack said. The burden of proof is on those who believe, and their track record of giving good reasons to believe in a god is basically one failure after another.

That is neither proof, nor evidence that God doesn’t exist though. You atheists always claim to live by evidence, right? Well where’s your evidence that God does not exist?

"That is neither proof, nor evidence that God doesn’t exist though." Again, that's just an unfalsifiable hypothesis. There's many different theories about reality that haven't been disproven, should we entertain every single ridiculous idea out there? Do you prescribe to that "reality is a computer simulation" idea? Going by your reasoning (you can't disprove it) you might as well. "You atheists always claim to live by evidence, right?" Atheist don't "claim" anything because (despite what you probably want to believe) atheism isn't a "belief". I guess what you really mean is "skeptic". "Well where’s your evidence that God does not exist?" Unfalsifiable hypothesis, burden of proof, I've already addressed this.

For someone that's been arguing with atheists for years, I would assume you would at least know the basics. No it's not a "claim" anymore than not believing in leprechauns is a claim.

One of the joys of being agnostic is that you can follow these squabbles with a smug grin plastered all over your face.

OK so you are intentionally playing silly word games. Just as I figured.

Saying atheism is a "claim" is about as silly as saying being unemployed is a job.

Do you also think not believing in leprechauns is a "belief"? A quick qoogle search: “disbelief or lack of belief in the existence of God or gods.” Not believing in leprechauns is a disbelief and disbelieve is still a belief.

Good Lord... Cody is back what 40 minutes, and the board's average IQ is plummeting.
What a bollocks non-conversation.
