10. It’s going to ignore Rise of the Machines, Salvation, and Genisys. There were moments in each movie that weren’t all that bad, but overall every single one of them had some major issues. Sure the technology improved and so did the special effects, but the story suffered so horribly that each movie became it’s own story after a while, no matter that they were connected.
9. Arnold is back as the main Terminator
It does feel as though he’s trying to pass the torch at this time which is of course something that people have been wondering about for a while now when it comes to his possible retirement and exit from the action scene. It’s great that he wants to hold on, but it’s about time to see if these movies can stand on their own.
8. James Cameron is an executive producer on the movie.
Since the rights reverts back to him in 2019, Paramount had no choice to get him involved. The man himself is finally coming back to oversee the project that he started and it’s a glorious day for many moviegoers and fans since the first two movies were amazing and kept us on the edge of our seats, while everything after that was just way too predictable.
7. Tim Miller is directing.
If you don’t know who the guy is then look him up and you’ll see he’s done a few movies at this point, most notably the Deadpool movie. Just because of that you know that he’s got what it takes to direct an action movie, though what he’ll do with this film is no doubt going to be influenced by Cameron.
6. This film will continue where T2 left off.
Like I said in the first point the other three are going to be treated like they never happened. You could say that they’re part of an alternate time line, one that got wiped out when the humans started mucking around in the past, whatever. The point is that this coming movie will have more to do with the past movie and none at all with the other three.
5. Skynet is still very much alive and attempting to change the future.
You would think that the resistance would have wiped out Skynet by now but one thing you’ve got to realize is that the software that’s been around since the end of the first movie has already been taking the machines in the direction that will bring about judgment day. This is an inevitability since humanity is constantly at war with itself and will continue to find new and effective ways to kill each other. Skynet is just tidying up the mess.
4. It’s cleaning up the timeline.
By nixing the other three movies it becomes easier to run in a smooth and very linear direction with these movies since there’s not as much jumping back through time and less continuity issues to discuss and debate over. This way you get an idea that what’s coming is an all-out war between humanity and the machines much as has happened before, but in a much different fashion.
3. The new Terminator has a few new capabilities.
Apparently one of those abilities includes splitting itself in two and creating a dual threat that is just as lethal. Remember back to T2 when we thought that the T-1000 was so special? Now the Terminator can straight up clone itself.
2. There’s a new fighter in the mix.
A new fighter/assassin is being tossed into the movie and she already seems like she’s a great deal tougher than Kyle Reese ever was. One has to expect new characters however since it’s a new era we’re stepping into.
Sarah Connor is back.
The whole “died from leukemia” bit in the third movie was kind of a cop-out it felt like but at the same time it did explain her absence. But this time around she’s back and she’s not taking any flak from anyone, especially the Terminators.
It’s going to be awesome, let’s just leave it at that
