ow a slut and a whore? I fear those days are gone now with Captain Marvel now here. I don’t know, I just don’t think that Brie Larson would take it that well. Imagine being on the set with her. You couldn’t say any jokes. I feel bad for Jeremy and Chris having to put up with that.

I'm sure their paycheck will console them just fine.

While we are at it, isn't the name Black Widow kind of anti-SJW?
It suggests being a widow is bad, and associating the negative with black.

That's not what her name means. Her name was taken from one of the most dangerous spiders in the world. But that is what the name of the spider means. And she is named after the spider.

Oh is that what the name of the spider means? Do you mind pasting a link here to support that definition? Because I'm pretty sure that's not actually what the name "black widow" means.

The black refers to the color of the spider (although I think they are a dark brown). The widow part refers to the spider killing the male.
Traditionally the term "black widow" when applied to a woman is a negative term--it meas "bad wife" or "bad woman." So you have black associated with bad and linking women to marriage and unfaithfulness.
So many SJW triggers, so little time.

See, now you just answered your own question. This was your original post: And now you've answered it yourself, since according to your answer, there's nothing bad about being a widow. The spider earned its dark reputation by killing its mate... it's the "killing its mate" part that makes it "bad", not simply being a widow. You also answered that "black" was in reference to the spider's color and not because it was somehow negative. Therefore, the term "black widow" has got nothing to do with SJW or anti-SJW. Unless of course you think members of one group generally kill their spouses?

The only one triggered here is you. You think Hollywood depicts rural Americans as 'evil incarnate' and go on rants about pedophilia cults that you probably heard about from Alex Jones. The Black Widow spider (which is indeed black, if you'd seen them in real life you'd know that) is highly dangerous, hence the term being applied to femme fatales. That has a negative connotation in its own right-- which is kind of the point when you're talking about a super spy that earned the nickname before she started fighting for good. Probably in the top ten dumbest comments I've ever seen on this board, and that's saying something.

All it would take is for one of their twitter bloggers to bring this up and whoosh! Another cause to fuss about. I bet it would spread like wildlife. The implication that she kills her husband would probably be considered a plus, but not the black part.
Fact remains that the name is not racially or gender neutralized in meaning. It was created before words were considered fair game for social politicking.

The name when associated with a woman is because she has multiple dead husbands. Meaning she is the cause of their death. Y'know, like the spider.

You mean like when Mike Cernovich went after James Gunn for years old tweets? You're still in a tizzy over that. Talk about triggered.
