It's funny how Marvel movies always get pegged as "kiddie." One of those two films was squarely designed for the enjoyment of a child, and the other was not (based on its so-called political undercurrents). On that basis, I don't see the two movies as being strictly comparable, unless of course, I get to compare Dumbo and Robocop next. captain-marvels-amnesia-finally-reveals-feiges-robocop-mcu-comparison/Kinda is relevant comparing Shazam with CM It appears to be more relevant to compare CM to Robocop.

SHAZAM! was waaaaaay better.
Now that's how you lose an eye!!! Agreed. Shazam! is much better than Captain Marvel. The Carol Danvers character was like a robot with no personality at all. And the writing in Captain Marvel is awful. Nick Fury getting his eye scratched out by a house pet. That's as lame as Ronan the Big Bad Destroyer getting defeated by a silly Dance-Off. So you're saying you hate that Shazam was goofily dancing in his movie?

I thought we had some dance stuff in there... A Flerken is not a housecat any more than Groot is an apple tree. A Flerken is a Kree house pet just like a cat is a human house pet. Nick Fury got his eye scratched out by a house pet.

So DC films get a pass and are free from scrutiny basically because of their studio logo. Gotcha.

The hypocrisy on the part of the MCU haters is really stunning. There's only about 4 of them left posting regularly but they are persistent.

You're right, Sivana wasn't defeated by a dance-off, but then again neither was Ronan (you'd know this if you actually watched the movie). Sivana was defeated by basically getting goaded into releasing his powers in order to prove he wasn't a coward. I mean, I liked Shazam and all, but you have to admit that was a pretty lame and cheesy way to defeat a villain.

Shazam! I thought was the stronger movie overall- better lead character, more balanced tone, more satisfying storytelling with a stronger and a more accessible message. That said the hypocrisy from the number of Marvel Cinematic Universe trolls, and you know who they are, on this site is nothing short of eye roll inducing - Years and years they tell us that Marvel Studios only churns out child-friendly products with repetitive use of immature humor and too much camp and yet they embrace Shazam!, and also Aquaman, which are no more or less guilty of what they slam Marvel Studios for. I mean, Shazam! is not exactly a piece of work comparable to that of a Werner Herzog or David Lynch or David Cronenberg now, is it? Or, in the realm of DC movies, Watchmen or The Dark Knight or V For Vendetta.

But like Skaathar said, Shazam was cracking jokes and one liners during fight scenes and acted like goofball (similar to Chris Pratt in Guardians of the Galaxy). You claim the Avengers do that (which they don't). So why is okay for DC to treat war like a big joke while lives are endangered?

Let's settle this once and for all....Quill performs his dance, says it's a dance off...and then? Does Ronan die? Does he surrender? How exactly did the dance defeat him? You're silence will be taken as reluctance to admit you are wrong.

Mind you, Ronan also wasn’t defeated by a dance-off.
