Might as well get this over with. Which studio made the better (Captain Marvel) movie?
MCU's Captain Marvel or DCEU's Shazam?

Both were decent, but I think Captain Marvel has a greater rewatchability factor.

Half-wished I saw this before I talked about it in another thread.
Captain Marvel I thought was way better. Shazam surprised and impressed me, but I still like Captain Marvel more.
My only real hang-up with Shazam is the fact that I live in Toronto where Shazam was shot, and there's no hiding it. For me, anyways. There's even sets in the movie I walked around earlier that day. I couldn't stop seeing Toronto screaming at me in almost every scene, even though the story is set in Philadelphia. It kept breaking my concentration.

Wow, very equally split.

I liked both and only gave the slight edge to Captain Marvel.

I haven't seen Shazam nor will I now until it releases on Blu Ray but Captain Marvel was so so enough that I wouldn't be surprised if I did prefer Shazam more.
Aquaman was better than Captain Marvel so if Shazam is at least as good as that then I'll prefer it.

Hope that gives you an idea of the movie.

It's funny how Marvel movies always get pegged as "kiddie." One of those two films was squarely designed for the enjoyment of a child, and the other was not (based on its so-called political undercurrents). On that basis, I don't see the two movies as being strictly comparable, unless of course, I get to compare Dumbo and Robocop next.

SHAZAM! was waaaaaay better.
Now that's how you lose an eye!!! Agreed. Shazam! is much better than Captain Marvel. The Carol Danvers character was like a robot with no personality at all. And the writing in Captain Marvel is awful. Nick Fury getting his eye scratched out by a house pet. That's as lame as Ronan the Big Bad Destroyer getting defeated by a silly Dance-Off.

Shazam.
Captain Marvel was a by-the-numbers unoriginal CBM. And Brie Larson as a lead was simply atrocious. Zach Levi oozes natural charm and carries his own movie. Cap Marvel has to rely on strong performances from Ben Mendelson, Jude Law and Sam Jackson to make it passable.

This thread has to be one of my all time favorites. The trolls who are always complaining about Marvel being kiddie are here hyping up a film aimed directly at children. If Marvel put out the identical film, they'd be ripping it to shreds. I love you guys, don't ever change.

I am seeing Shazam today again I believe. I thought we had some dance stuff in there... A Flerken is not a housecat any more than Groot is an apple tree.
