As one might tell from my avatar, I worship the classic WB shorts. Between 1948 and 1960, they were absolute genius. Before 1948, they were good but by then, the characters became their familiar personas. Bugs Bunny went from the mere rabbit to the every guy slob to the rascally rabbit. Daffy went from the manic kook to the devious schemer. They also introduced new characters, Coyote/road Runner, Tasmanian Devil, Marvin the Martian. But by the dawn of the 60's, they went downhill. They went to the well too often with the Road Runner, they made stupid adversaries, Daffy vs. Speedy. And the animation went downhill. I wish I had been around when they were shown on the big screen. My personal favorite.
Still makes me laugh out loud. "Pronoun trouble"

This and other Warner Bros. cartoons did more to foster my love for classical music than Disney's Fantasia ever did. Additionally, there was the music of Raymond Scott, which enhanced a lot of the other Looney Tunes.

Wish there was a collection out there that had all the shorts in one massive box set. That would be beyond amazing. I actually like the later Daffy vs. Speedy shorts though. I remember Slow Poke Rodriguez.
I always liked this opening even though it was kind of "jarring". Totally fits the mid '60s. Reminds me a little of Saul Bass.

I am a fan of the pre-WWII Warner's cartoons.
I liked Daffy Duck when he was daffy and not Jack Benny

Love Wile E. and the RR, Bugs vs. Elmer, and the entire Warner stable. Grew up with them at the movies.

I always felt sympathy for Wile E. Coyote (who ended up becoming my favourite). He just wanted a meal (of course, all that money he spent on Acme could've bought him a decent meal). Plus, the Road Runner always bugged me, so I was Team Wile E. all the way. It was a bit of a surprise when he started speaking, after remaining silent for so long. Quite some time ago I happened to stumble upon a page titled '15 Things you didn't know about Wile E. Coyote' and #2 on the list explained that there was a reason he could afford all that stuff from Acme: he's actually an employee there. For someone like me who is a fan of Wile E., it was interesting to read these little known facts about him. screenrant.com/things-you-did-not-know-about-wile-e-coyote/

Always amazed at what you could get from ACME: You could also get a "fifth" of ACME Bumble bees. And exploding tennis balls ("tickle your friends, surprise your opponents!"). I love the label on the Earthquake pills, "why wait?...Loads of fun!" Little details in the WB shorts that made them great.

The Warners cartoons were great fun and I remember watching them on Saturday,--mornings, I think--or early afternoon, as a child. Their way of interjecting their major live action stars into the cartoons was most welcome by this (even then ) old movie buff, making me feel like a Hollywood insider. I had no favorite Warners character, though now I do: Porky Pig (go figure, eh? )

I prefer the non Chuck Jones versions of Bugs and Daffy. They were funny but a little too cute-I prefer the Freleng, Tashlin, Avery, McKimson etc.
I figure my introduction to Humphrey Bogart may well have been through his appearances in the cartoons.
"Suffering succotash! It's Ann Sheridan!"
