I thought he would be gone. The Johnnies had talent but couldn’t get a bid. Underperformed badly. This is why you don’t hire a legendary player. They rarely succeed and it hurts to let them go.

Former Arkansas coach Mike Anderson is in negotiations to become the next head coach for St. John's, sources confirmed to ESPN.

This has been a disaster for St. John's. Tim Cluess, Porter Moser and Ryan Odom turned them down. Ryan Ododm would rather stay at University of Maryland Baltimore County than St. John's. Tim Cluess would rather coach Iona and Porter Moser would rather couch Loyola-Chicago. Odom would rather coach in a 5000 seat gym than Madison Square Garden. Cluess would rather coach in the MAAC than the Big East. St. John's is a dream job for coaches like these. From what I've read, the Hurley negotiations took about three seconds.
