First edition 1904 by a "Brand Whitlock." Very good condition she says.
She didn't know much about it other than it was considered an important novel. I suggested she check the Library of Congress to see if they have a copy. They do. It is so rare it is kept in a special room.
Any suggestions on where one would go to have a rare book evaluated?

Alas her hopes were dashed. A rare book dealer said it isn't worth much without a dust jacket and the author isn't much sought after.

I knew someone who found a book by Aldous Huxley – inscribed by the author.

I knew someone who found a book by Aldous Huxley – inscribed by the author. It's neat to think that there are probably lots of things like that to be discovered. People who have old book collections sitting in an attic etc. Someone once found a mint Batman comic in the hollow of a desk.

Well she has another book The Human Figure by JH Vanderpoel.
