Rings, large championship banners, Super Bowl trophies, World Series trophies, Hall of Famers left and right.
In other words, just another day in the Boston sports world.
Yeah, baseball is about two weeks old, but today we're seeing Fenway, which means the 2019 MLB season has officially begun.
Other than Karl Ravitch talking ENDLESSLY about contract extensions and Chris Sale's velocity, it's just about a perfect day.
Go Sox!!!

Nice seeing the rings, not so nice seeing the Patriots. NESN had a nice narration piece by Carl Michael Yastrzemski.

Sale can go fuck his skinny self. In an era of entitled pro athletes, Chris Sale is the Elvis Presley of drama queens. The Sox could not coddle this guy any more, and it's incredibly curious. So I guess he was sick last week, and that's why he struggled on the road trip. This guy sure gets sick a lot, which makes one wonder why the Sox allow him to pitch in short sleeves on a totally frigid day in Boston. Meanwhile, after two good innings, Sale has completely fallen apart. Including falling asleep and allowing a guy to STEAL FRIGGIN HOME!!! 5-2 Jays, boo birds are out at Fenway.

But he's never been an elite pitcher. Never a guy who, if I was a batter, I would say "Oh fuck, not this guy." Despite the accolades, despite the money, he is no Verlander, no Scherzer, no deGrom, no Bumgarner. It would not have broke my heart to see him walk.
This could be a long season. There's no fire in this team. The rotation is a shipwreck. And there's no way to make any changes, not with the payroll.

The team will be fine, there is far too much talent there to be too worried. And the rotation isn't a shipwreck, it's just not looking good right now. Sale, Price, and Porcello are all in the top 10 of wins in baseball the last 4 years, so it's not all falling off the cliff. They're not going wire to wire with 108 wins, but by All-Star break, they will be right in the thick of things.

Too much talent, I don't think Alex Cora will let this team falter for much longer. But the bloated payroll hurts. Too much dead money, like Rusney Castillo. And I'm not sure about the bullpen. Done well so far, better than the big money starters. Yankees haven't been impressive. That helps.

Can't believe my Jays won this game. Yay. Hey, they earned it. Shoemaker pitched a good game, and the Jays totally out-hustled the Sox all day.
