Having enjoyed Wonder Woman and Shazam as much as I did, I just hope they can maintain this level of quality going foreward.

Same here. I haven't Shazam yet. But I did enjoy Wonder Woman and LOVE Aquaman. Hopefully, DC and WB keeps this level of quality and excitement up and take their time.

It sounds weird, but the right movies failed. JL, Batman, and Superman are transcendent properties. They can get 27% on RT and 3 years later announce a new movie and it’ll still be a big hit.
Aquaman, Shazam, and even Wonder Woman to a lesser extent... if any of those had BvS backlash, we may never see solo outings again in our lifetime. Green Lantern is a great example. He’s tarnished for the everyday audience. How long did it take Marvel to fix Daredevil? Supergirl still hasn’t gotten another movie, only a recent tv show for one of DC’s biggest ever characters.
So as far as how bad it was publicly perceived they were doing, they kind of landed the burning plane pretty decently. Even Suicide Squad oddly is already getting redemption.

I'm glad and I hope the DCEU can move forward and come together with a successful shared universe.

Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam! have righted the DC ship. Did you ever think you would hear that? I'm glad and I hope the DCEU can move forward and come together with a successful shared universe. Exactly. Never thought that in a million years, those would be the ones to put DC back on track.

It is funny that these characters that have been ignored by WB/DC for years while they focused on Batman...and more Batman...and Batman again...and to some extent, Superman....these 3 characters (Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Shazam!) should come along and be their new pride and joy! I just shake my head about that.

I just shake my head about that. What I find most interesting is they’re coincidentally DC’s most Greek Mythology-based superheroes. Maybe they should just roll with that and make the next JL movie a Pantheon Reborn type storyline. I bet the general audience would eat that up and itd improve the brand, even if it is a little more literal than the comics intended. |
