I enjoyed it. Could have been better but it was still very enjoyable.

It was a very enjoyable movie that I had problems with.
It's one of those movies that I loved less as time went on.
I did not think it was boring.

Pretty much the only remotely smart thing you've ever said

It was alright. Let down by dull characters who were too heavily plot-driven.

In my opinion it ranks among the best of the franchise.

The last half hour was brilliant but before that it was pretty blah with unlikeable characters.

I think my issues with the film are summed up in the scene where Forrest Whittaker's character commits suicide for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

I think my issues with the film are summed up in the scene where Forrest Whittaker's character commits suicide for absolutely no reason whatsoever. That was a noble sacrifice - otherwise we would have had to put up with his raspy whisper for another hour.

Nothing about him made sense, really. We're told that he was an "extremist" whose "militancy has caused the Alliance a great many problems." Only he never does anything extreme or militant. Well, he does use the tentacle monster on the pilot guy. Of which he says "The unfortunate side effect, is that one tends to lose one's mind." Only the pilot is perfectly fine afterwards, so that was apparently just some BS he came up with. Maybe by "extreme", they meant "extremely suicidal"? I often wonder if there writers are just piss-poor, or are there actual reasons for these things that get lost in editing. Like, suppose there had been scenes of him doing extreme things? Say, abducting Stormtroopers and beheading them, and then sending video of it back to the Empire. It would even be topical! And then when Jym shows up she's disgusted by what he's doing and he sacrifices himself out of guilt because he reaslises he's gone too far and gotten lost. But it all got cut out, so we're left with a suicidal rebel extremist who isn't extreme. Nah, its probably the piss-poor thing.
