I've always been a fan of IM3, so you know I appreciated this video. I did think it was funny when the presenter said he wasn't trying to promote an agenda while showing us one of the most socio-political infused reviews of a film I could imagine. He makes plenty of solid points and even though some of his views of the film's narrative are simply projections, a lot of it is dead on.
Everyone hated the humor, but the humor is what makes that film work. Without it you have some heavy handed religious allegory like BvS or overly contrived political commentary scenes like the ferry in TDK. (And no this isn't a Marvel vs. DC thing. TDK is one of my favorite films of all time.) There wasn't any more humor in IM 3 than there was in the first two IM films; the difference was everyone was expecting the Mandarin to be the badass Joker knockoff that was advertised. The Mandarin twist (sounds like a drink or a skateboarding trick) was the whole point of the film. Foreign or domestic, willingly or unwillingly, we create our own demons and the media helps us sell the story we prefer to ourselves.

I was always a fan of the film but, subsequent viewing has turned me into a steadfast supporter. It's a nearly perfect postmodern superhero film. If you've watched Iron Man 3 more than once and, all you got out of it was, "hey, you moved my cheese," I have absolutely no time for you. When the first iteration of the MCU is complete, and we're ready to reexamine it outside of the tedious framework of toxic fandom, I do not doubt that Iron Man 3 will emerge as one of Marvel Studio's most undervalued films.

Still resolute in my opinion. Great first act. Crappy second act. Good enough finish.
